We bought our first house this year and I was determined to do all the work on it myself, even the stuff I'm not qualified to do. I went to my local library and took out a stack of renovation books so tall that I couldn't carry them all at once. This was the only book I read cover to cover and the only book I bought after the fact.
Clear instructions with lots of diagrams and relevant photos. Every chapter seems to cover all the important stuff with no fluff or filler. With this book I feel like I could strip my house down to the frame and re-do it entirely. Myself.
