3.0 out of 5 stars Good read indeed!
Dr. Dyer has produced a work here that is easy to read and facilitates an over-all good mood. While I don't personally share all of his beliefs, I can compliment the book and recommend it.

Somehow, I missed reading Dr. Wayne Dyer's TEN SECRETS
FOR SUCCESS when it first came out a few years ago . . . however, I'm glad I was able to find it now because
it contained many powerful ideas for changing my life--and yours, too, in most likelihood) . . . though a mere 158 pages with a lot of white space, I'd still give it my highest recommendation for either personal reading or gift giving.

The ideas may seem pretty basic, but if you read the accompanying
explanation in the book, you'll see that they take on a lot more
significance when Dyer gives his unique spin on each one:

The First Secret:
Have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing.

The Second Secret:
Don't die with your music still in you.

The Third Secret:
You can't give away what you don't have.

The Fourth Secret:
Embrace silence.

The Fifth Secret:
Give up your personal history.

The Sixth Secret:
You can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it.

The Seventh Secret:
There are no justified resentments.

The Eighth Secret:
Treat yourself as if you already are what you'd like to be.

The Ninth Secret:
Treasure your divinity.

The Tenth Secret:
Wisdom is avoiding all thoughts that weaken you.

I also liked how Dyer used a relatively popular technique of
introducing each chapter with quotes . . . yet what made these
interesting was that I had not seen many of them reviously . . . forinstance:

Any path is only a path, and there is no affront to oneself
or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells
you.--Carlos Castaneda

Any man can make mistakes, but only an idiot persists
in his error.--Cicero

The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts. Take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.--Marcus Aurelius

God does not command that we do great things, only little things
with great love.--Mother Teresa

Also, there were many other memorable passages in the
book . . . among them:

In all of your relationships, if you can love someone enough to allow them to be exactly what they choose to be--without any expectations or attachments from you--you'll know true peace in your lifetime. True love means you love a person for what they are, not for what you think they should be. This is an open mind-and an absence of attachment.

What is your passion? What stirs your soul and makes you feel like you're totally in harmony with why you showed up here in the first place? Know this for certain: Whatever it may be, you can make a living doing it and simultaneously provide a service for others. I guarantee it.

The willingness and ability to live fully in the now eludes many
people. While eating your appetizer, don't be concerned with
dessert. While reading a book, notice where your thoughts are.
While on vacation, be there instead of thinking about what should
have been done and what has to be done when returning home.
Don't let the elusive present moment get used up by thoughts
that aren't in the here and now.

This review is from: Dr. Wayne Dyer's 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace (Hardcover)
Dr. Wayne Dyer has made significant contributions to advancing the course of peaceful, full lives through some wonderful writings. "10 Secrets" may be one of his best works to date.

The power of this book lies not in the words, perse, for many of his thoughts in this book are buried in others of his treasures. The power of this book lies in combining these thoughts together towards a powerful result. Each secret is loaded with wise information, and each one is both independent but related on the others. Reading this book is like looking at a masterful weaving, you can admire the handiwork up close, as well as stepping far back and taking in the whole view.

Another wonderful thing about this is in it's brevity. This is an easy book to sit down and read in one setting. The power is, however, to not read this book quickly, but deliberately. Dyer has so many important thoughts in each secret that it takes time and effort to ponder the depth of his sentences. I would advise you to read this book at least twice. First, read it all the way through. Upon that initial reading, you'll feel a tremendous, immediate sense of peace. Then, go back for further study, read, memorize, learn.

It's impossible for me to state my favorite secret, for all of them really lend themselves to self-empowerment, and allowing me to take control of my life as I never thought possible. The book's style lends itself to looking like a book you'd just give someone for a gift. Look beyond that, and look for the honesty deep inside.

Buy this book for yourself, and for any friend you know needs a little peace in their lives. It's worth the journey!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Peace of Spirit, Mar 1 2004

This review is from: Dr. Wayne Dyer's 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace (Hardcover)
When you feel peaceful and successful, you want to extend and export that peace and love. ~Wayne W. Dyer

Wayne Dyer encourages his readers to choose a path and then to consciously embark on a journey towards inner peace. Throughout this book you will find quotes to complement the ten chapters. Each chapter explores a different secret and who would not want to escape into a book of secrets? I was intrigued.

The first chapter explores attachment and opens your mind to new possibilities. At some point in your life, you start to explore your beliefs and compare them to what you learned as a child. Wayne Dyer can say one sentence and you might become more aware of who you truly are. It happened to me when he was giving a lecture on Public Television and his books have continued to inspire me over the years. I had never thought of myself as a spiritual being and that one aspect alone encouraged me to live as if I was truly immortal. Suddenly things I thought were important paled in comparison to what really was important.

"10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace" is an empowering book that explores the miracle of life and future possibilities. I loved Wayne's thoughts on love.

True love means you love a person for what they are, not for what you think they should be. ~Wayne W. Dyer

There are some life-changing tips about living in a more positive way. Choosing peace and forgiveness are definite options. I can almost guarantee that one sentence in this book will put you on a more positive path in your life.

Wayne Dyer has keys and all you have to do is add the keys to your spiritual key chain so you can unlock doors you never thought were possible to unlock. Since our thoughts can dramatically change our lives, I'm thankful for Wayne Dyer's willingness to share his beautiful and often life-changing wisdom.

You might also enjoy the "Inner Peace Cards" by Wayne Dyer

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME! Right up there with "Mizraim Principles"!, May 11 2004
This review is from: Dr. Wayne Dyer's 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace (Hardcover)
The secret to this book is organization and appearance. Of course, having solid principles that we all would benefit from learning about life is key also! Dyer TEACHES us--he doesn't merely talk at us, and the principles are not only simple--they are precepts we can RELATE to!! Along with the Christian work: 'With Joseph in the Unversity of Adversity: the Mizraim Priniciples', this is one of the finest self-help books out there today! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent messages!, April 12 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Dr. Wayne Dyer's 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace (Hardcover)
There are many people who can benefit from the wisdom of Wayne Dyer. Of course, I feel that I am one of them because this book has changed my life! This book tells you in simple words, what it takes to truly fulfill your spiritual potential as a human being. Like many spiritual books, this book only makes sense to those who are ready to understand these things. For those who are at the right stage, this book will be full of inspiring messages. If you want to really understand how all of this relates to how the mind works from an objective theoretical point of view, I'd recommend "The Ever-Transcending Spirit" by Toru Sato. It is one of the best books explaining this! If you are ready, life will make so much sense after reading this book. It is almost miraculous! If you are not ready, wait a few years and read it again. Anyways, read these books if you feel the time is right! They are excellent!

1.0 out of 5 stars Continuous Babblings, April 6 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Dr. Wayne Dyer's 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace (Hardcover)
As usual Mr. Dyer takes something simple and makes it complex. He has a right to his viewpoint for sure, but let's base it on something substantial. Waynes problem is that he is unable to distinguish the difference between truth and his prolific imagination. His next book will be called "Lost in Translation" His Buddhist mindset is self defeating, and self serving. Next he'll say he is the threads on a screw.
