Supportive book for beginners,

This review is from: Scroll Saw Workbook (Paperback)
I am a beginner with a scroll saw and was very pleased to find Mr. Nelson's workbook. Although I have not yet begun the exercises (I intend to start this weekend), I have read all the chapters and am very excited. He starts out with just the basics (following lines and making turns) and works on up including stack cutting and creating a cute fish puzzle. Each lesson teaches you something new and in practicing the lesson you produce a finished project. I definately recommend this book.

This book will show you exactly how to make intricate cuts with your scroll saw. It takes the mystery and fear out of scroll sawing. An invaluable resource for beginners!

I acquired a scroll saw a couple of months ago and was lucky enough to receive this book for Christmas this year. The practice exercises were exactly what I needed to gain skills in using my saw.I'd recommend this book to anyone that needs to develop some base skill level.

Is because of the misleading book design -That is, that the cover photos show the book as if done in a "lay flat" spiral design, when actually it's a fake-out piece of artwork on the cover. I know this sound's too picky, but many times the selling point for an instruction book is the ability to lay flat on the bench to allow for easier hands-on instruction. All else considered, John Nelson is well known and respected for his imaginative scroll saw designs, and the book is very concise and would be a help to anyone. |
