Valid, urgent questions,
By Jeffrey W Campbell (Brooklyn, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
I read a news story today noting that the 911 commission will avoid criticism of anyone in the Bush or Clinton administration to avoid being seen as partisan. The commission isn't looking for real answers then, but is seeking only to validate the official version of the events of 911. David Ray Griffin lucidly lays out reason after reason to doubt this official version. He doesn't claim to know what actually happened, choosing instead to show that the official version is simply not true, cannot be true. Instead of claiming to know the full truth, Griffin intelligently defines the absurdity of the accepted story of 911 to make his central point: there must be a true investigation of 911.The New Pearl Harbor is a well documented, clearly presented book that raises questions to which the world should be demanding answers. The word "Conspiracy" has practically become synonymous with lunacy. There are authors out there who make their living linking every conspiracy theory ever thought of into one garbled mess of a book, then rearranging that mess from time to time and releasing it as a new book. It is a mistake to consider this book as part of that conspiracy genre. We should remind ourselves that humans throughout history have proven themselves capable of horrendous things, usually in the name of a few powerful individuals or a class of them, and almost always to gain or protect power. Why should the present be any different? Our "free" society isn't as free as it seems, becoming less so all the time, but we are technically afforded the right to speak our opinions and to assemble. Our elected officials will not ask the right questions. The mainstream media has become an offical mouthpiece of the executive branch, so they can't be counted on to ask any questions. If you agree that the questions raised in this book deserve answering, then raise your voice with others and demand answers.

This book provokes serious thought.,
By Ned Middleton (British professional underwater photo-journalist & author) - See all my reviews (TOP 50 REVIEWER)
This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
Whenever I recognise factual errors in any work of non-fiction (and I frequently do!), those errors are taken into account when it comes to judging - and reviewing, the work. In the case of this book, I have no way of knowing whether the well-argued and well-reasoned facts surrounding the events in the USA on 11 September 2001 (now known by the acronym "Nine-Eleven") as assembled and described in great detail by the author have any basis or not.Nevertheless, it is because those allegations "are" well-argued and well-reasoned that this book stands out as one that must be read by all those people on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean who care anything at all about this new style of terrorism, the direction in which the threat it poses is taking our respective countries and the consequential actions (or not!) taken by our leaders. It is easy to say we have a right to ask questions. It is more important to assert we have a right to demand answers. To return to my original point, therefore, whether or not the allegations in this book have any basis in fact or not, they are allegations which must be addressed by those leaders. It is important to note that this author is not alone in making such accusations, so this is not a maverick publication. Instead it raises the most worrying and disturbing questions about a series of events which shook the world and, in doing so, made a permanent change to that world - forever! I live in a small English village. No, not New England, USA - the original England that is still part of Great Britain. Eleven people from this region alone died in the twin towers and similar figures are repeated across this country. I do believe, therefore, it is fair to say we all have an interest in what happened on that defining day and what is being done about it. Whatever your personal views about those events, whatever your personal involvement (or otherwise), I have reached the conclusion this book should be REQUIRED READING for all citizens of the USA and UK. Once read, you will be asking yourself; Well, did they?, or didn't they? And why do those basic questions about the standard procedures relating to US Air Defences remain unanswered by those at the very top? Or is it we simply don't care how the war is won just as long as it is? NM

The book the White House fears,
By A Customer
This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
I won't go into the evidence presented in this book. There are many reviews here that do just that, and I would be treading on already familiar ground by doing so. I'll pose one question to you, the reader. Why have there been ZERO reviews of this book in the mainstream press when it has been consistently in the top 300 books on Amazon for the past three months, and without any major press coverage, I might add? I challenge you to find another bestselling political book which fits this criterion. The point is that conservatives would definately want to smear Professor Griffin as another crazed liberal if the book was without merit. That they are silent on this book speaks volumes. Additionally, liberals are afraid to touch this book because they don't want to be painted as conspiracy theorists. Someone should have reviewed this book by now in the mainstream press, yet no one has touched it. It's political dynamite from the perspective of either side. Reader, the text from this book has been made available on several sites around the web. If you're afraid of blowing $10 on junk, a simple Google search will yield the text online. Spend a few minutes reading and then come back to Amazon and order ten copies to pass out to everyone you know. This book is that important.

George W. Bush: An American Nero,
By
This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
I have always been very suspicious of the "official version" of 9/11, as too much of it didn't make any sense. How did the FBI, who apparently had no clue as to the impending disaster, identify the hijackers so quickly given that they all died, leaving no physical evidence and none of them were on the flight lists? How could the Pentagon possibly get attacked given that there is real-time monitoring of all air traffic, that Andrews Air Force base is a few minutes away (with F-16s on the highest stage of alert), and that this most heavily guarded building in the world has anti-aircraft/missle turrets? And the 9/11 anomalies go on and on to the point that the "official version" crumbles under the most modest reason. Finally, I have found a book that ties all of these anomalies together and the result it really shocking and stunning---and disturbing that our nation's media and independent thinkers in congress (if they exist) don't have the courage to confront this immoral betrayal. People tell me that they cannot "imagine" the Bush Administration -- Machiavellian as they are -- doing such a thing, and it is precisely this inability to imagine that has allowed them to get away with perhaps the greatest criminal act ever performed. But thankfully, the truth -- that is indisputable evidence and the common sense and open minded investigating of that evidence -- is now beginning to come to light. Like Nero, Bush played the fiddle as the Towers burned. I hope every reader will send a copy of this book or two to people they know. This information is so crucial as we sit on the precipice of the most important election of our time. The professor has written a book that really is fair and balanced. He sticks to examining the evidence and it is the evidence itself which is damning (which is why the Administration wants us to see so little of it). Dear reader, please ignore the rantings of those who pan this book -- they are merely fanatics who have either not read it or have the logic abilities of a three-year old. One cannot finish this book without giving it the most serious consideration.

9/11 for the Discerning Thinker,
By "davevangrun" (Portland, Oregon, USA) - See all my reviews

David Ray Griffin presents a work that intimates a terrible array of potential arguments behind the 9/11 disaster. An indepth prosecutorial assemblage with profound assessments with regard to how the United States government could have possibly allowed such a grievous set of circumstances to have occurred. An essential reading for all Americans!

See streaming video for WTC-7 if you are wary of this book,

This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
I became interested in this whole subject when I saw streaming video on the internet (which is readily available by searching at google.com for "wtc-7") about the building number 7's collapse. It obviously appears to be a controlled demolition, I should know, I work demolition 50 hours a week. But even if you're not in Demo you can still see what it looks like. This book is merely a summary of many different interenet sources that have attacked this subject since day one. It is a good read though, and I urge all my conservative buddies on the jobsite to check it out before they vote for George W. again.

Wanted: A Genuine Inquiry of 9/11,
By Patricia Patterson (Claremont, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
Griffin's The New Pearl Harbor reads like a deeply engrossing detective story, as he leads readers through a maze of disturbing questions about who was involved and what happened before, during, and since September 11, 2001. In the end our heads are full of plane routes, broken rules, and wreckage. Not to mention, the amazing destruction of World Trade Center buildings and part of the Pentagon; as well as Administration comments, behavior and context in which certain agenda could be furthered. What we do with this mining of wide-ranging data is left to us. But the need for a geuine inquiry and disclosure of what happened on that fateful day is underscored. We are reminded no more dramatically and poignantly than by 9/11 families of how we are all affected by this tragedy and its ever widening ramifications.

Essential Reading,
By
This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
Every American needs to see the information presented in this book, and reach their own conclusions. Scientific and non-partisan, "The New Pearl Harbor" borrows its title from "Rebuilding America's Defenses", a Cheny-Rumsfeld-Wolfowitz report written in 2000. In that report, Cheny, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld wrote that the changes they sought would be difficult, unless "a new Pearl Harbor ocurred." 9-11 is sacred and sensitive territory, as every reviewer who has read this extraordinary book knows. So why have 60 out of 66 reviewers rated this book 5 stars? (...) Why do a majority of German, French and Canadian ciizens now believe that the American government allowed 9-11 to take place? Taking to heart the idea that those who benefit from a crime ought to be investigated, "The New Pearl Harbor" lets the shocking facts, derived from credible mainstream sources, speak for themselves. Read this book, then pass it on to everyone you know.

Questions Still,
By virginia deane abernethy (The South, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Pearl Harbour (Paperback)
The 9/11 Commission deflected more questions than it answered. The Commission, moreover, never faced the barrage of questions that David Ray Griffin marshals in The New Pearl Harbor.Griffin's questions acquire power from their carefully researched context and organization. They are arranged so that succeeding clusters of questions implicate progressively higher levels of government. Most importantly, the argument is not chained, or deductive. It is cumulative. Many suspicions could be allayed, but remaining questions would still demand answers. Failure to deal with Dr. Griffin's questions will leave many Americans with a permanent distrust of government: distrust of government competence, distrust of government ethics, and distrust of our leaders' goodwill toward fellow Americans. |
