5.0 out of 5 stars Journey of Souls, Case studies of life between lives
Stellar book by Michael Newton!!!! This book is like no other and a must read for all spiritual practitioners and anyone who is aware of it's spiritual potential.
It really put into perceptive life after our death on earth and where our spirit goes in between. Very captivating and a fast read.
If the content of this book feels familiar, it's because it is. A...

I hated this book. If this is what life is like in the Spirit world then I hope to stay right here. The images presented in this book by the hypnotized clients are my description of hell. Wispy, floating forms, living in layers of a cloud like environment, taking constant classes. What is the point of this? I truly think this author got it all wrong. If found his...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting but in danger of bias, Mar 20 2012

This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
I thought this book was very interesting. It covers a lot of ground and a lot of the things he claims his patients are experiencing correspond with things I've heard and read elsewhere.

However, I am sometimes not too pleased with his techniques. I find the questions he says he asked his patients while they are under to be leading and sometimes rude. It taints the idea of this book as an experiment based in science for me. I still enjoy it, but its credibility is definitely damaged.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE these books......, Jan 30 2012
This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
I recommend Journey of Souls to everyone, makes me feel at ease, about what happens after we leave this earth. I know I am going to love the other two books, Destiny of Soul's & Memory of the Afterlife, although I have not read them yet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish, May 24 2001
This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
The proper scientific proposal discusses other sources, makes correlations from other sources, views great amounts of data (as opposed to a small handful of case stories from an unknown quarry),suggests errors in the theory , forms various hypothesis, and proposes definitive ways to prove or to reject those hypothesis. Over all, it must not assume the answer from scant data.

This book followed none of those rules, and as such is a poor testament, though sadly the best reincarnation has, as to the scientific worth of such a suggestion (might I even say myth).

I was, to say the least, highly disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Convincing, July 6 2004

This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
Prior to reading this book I had read dozens of books that discussed theories and case studies regarding reincarnation, including those presenting the experiences of Ian Stevenson, Edgar Cayce, Bruce Goldberg, Brian Weiss, Nick Bunick, Carol Bowman and others. (I had been a skeptic for over 25 years since I read a small reincarnation book published by the Theosophical Society while in my late teens.) However, other than the book by Dr. Goldberg, none really gave much of a glimpse on the "in between life" of the spirit.

This book did more to convince me than any other. The author's careful, consistent and scientific approach was the key for me. Reading this book was like reading the notes from a scientist's journal, for Dr. Newton admits he was a skeptical non-believer in the beginning as well. The author's follow-on book (Destiny of Souls) is also quite good in this respect, but it does not break much new ground.

I did a regression with one of the author's students (several years after I read JOS for the first time) and was deeply moved by the experience. The regression helped confirm strong intuitions I was having regarding an individual I had known in my youth and helped explain dozens of baffling and often bizarre dreams I had been having about this individual over a nearly 20 year period. These were dreams that went back to many earlier periods in American history, the 1920s/30s and late 1800s, specifically, and confirmed a close family connection in those past lives (I have had other dreams since that suggest at least one additional shared lifetime in 1700s England).

I would have never fully grasped or appreciated the origin of these dreams without the information presented in this book. But more than that, JOS allowed me to better trust my intuitions and convictions, especially the notion that all of us are here of our free will and, therefore, that every action we take (including coming to earth again) is a personal choice that inherently demands personal accountability for its outcome.

3.0 out of 5 stars Journey Of Souls, Feb 5 2002

This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
If you are of the view that death is the end, then this book provides a little food for thought and delivers to the reader an alternative. I can understand how many readers rave about this book - we all want to believe that as individuals we do not reach our final destination and that the road we travel is a journey without a destination.
I was more interested with what this book did not say. For example is the soul only exclusive to humans? I guess so because none of the case stories refered to other occupants of our planet such as dogs, apes or dolphins. One would presume that prior to pre modern man we were subject to a world without souls. I would also have appreciated that subject past lives were validated with historical references - Doctor Newton did not comment upon this, which would of at least provided some validity. Also, like many books of this elk, it fails to deliver a scientific alternative. For example, it is well documented that as the human brain shuts down our vision fades into a tunnel of light and chemicals are released that create a feeling of well being. This view is not considered when describing the story of our soul departing the body. Why? Perhaps it would taint what we prefer to believe.
In conclusion it is an enthralling read, but would be dangerous to be taken at face value. Please balance the easy to believe story with other theories... then believe.

5.0 out of 5 stars And the Truth shall set you Free..., Nov 22 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
This is one book I shall read again and again. Absolutely incredible. And it all fits. I have been studying reincarnation for 27 years and this is most definitely a must read for it fills in the blanks of where a soul goes and what it does when it is not reincarnating. The book tapped a 'knowing' that has been residing deep within me for as long as I can remember. I have always known I am a reincarnating soul, just the details eluded me. This book has helped me to view others in a different manner. People who I considered my enemy are no longer my enemy but rather comrades with the same goals as I ultimately have. Situations I didn't fully understand are becoming clear and understood. While I read hundreds and hundreds of various books, this one is at the top of the list of those books that ultimately brings me closer to the Truth. The Truth Of Who I Really Am.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Fav. NDE Books Ive Been There Too, Dec 31 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. According to most stories I've read, I had an unusual one, not going down a tunnel, but experiencing many interesting phenomena all the same. It seems to me that there are some NDE books and magazine articles that are just hype, and published just to give recognition. I have found, through my many years and multitudes of books on the subject, that there is an underlining truth and spirit that pervades the true experiences. So, I have compiled a list of my best reads for NDE books - ones that I consider genuine and adding validating light to the personal NDE experience. I have left out compilations, such as Journey of Souls, although I enjoyed this book. This list are personal narratives. I hope you enjoy them too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Destined to be a classic, Dec 3 1999

This review is from: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (Paperback)
Building upon the work of past life regression pioneers like Dick Sutphen, Newton has managed to produce possibly the most advanced text on soul theory. Students of metaphysics will no doubt gain much from this book. Having studied this subject myself for a number of years, this book helped me to finally solidify many of my own views and theories on the subject. Newton's research should provide a lot of inspiration to those searching for meaning in their lives. I can understand the skepticism that is rampant in this field of study, but I am confident that Newton's work will be regarded as one of the most important contributions to metaphysics in the coming Millenium. Indeed, Newton clearly communicates that there is a divine order to the universe that many of us are just beginning to comprehend. Because this material can be so overwhelming, I suggest that people who are new to this subject first read books written by Dick Sutphen and then follow up with this book. Highly recommended.
