5.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge is Power, and this book is empowering!, Aug 28 2010
This review is from: Becoming Raw: The Comprehensive Guide to Nutritious Raw-Food Diet (Paperback)
I own dozens of books about raw food, and this one is by far my favorite. It is extremely well researched, well organized, and the author makes the scientific facts easy for the layperson to understand. She also corrects some of the misconceptions that are often presented as facts by raw food adherents, while also correcting misconceptions that are often accepted as facts by many professionals in the medical and diet fields. She sets the record straight about proteins, and amino acids, and enzymes. Brenda does not just spew off her opinion about these matters, but backs up what she says by what has been proven over and over in many experiments and studies. Wow! This part of the book is particularly solid, and leaves the reader convinced about the benefits of raw foods.

The book also contains many charts that show at a glance the food value of many fruits and vegetables by listing the vitamins and minerals each contain.

I can't say enough good about this book. It is fantastic!

This is a great book!
It is very informative, science-based, interesting, and even has some excellent recipes at the end!
I am not a raw foodist, but have been interested in incorporating more raw food in my diet for awhile, and have read many raw books. This book is the only one I have read that makes me feel confident that you can eat a nutritionally sound raw diet, as long as you follow the guidelines laid out in this book (such as making sure you are getting your B12 and D, and eating a variety of raw foods).
Highly recommended!
