These cards really are stunning; each one is beautifully drawn and has a lot of detail. As reported by others, the cards are a bit less sturdy than usual. However, if you use the gentle shuffling technique described here: http://www.learntarot.com/top.htm

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality
I'll make this short. I loved the artwork and psychological concept of this deck. It was truly beautiful and innovative. The reason I gave this 2 stars is because the paper quality of the cards is absolutely awful. I returned mine! A set this expensive with such poor quality cards in inexcusable. The publisher should be ashamed. I think it is a widespread problem,...

These cards really are stunning; each one is beautifully drawn and has a lot of detail. As reported by others, the cards are a bit less sturdy than usual. However, if you use the gentle shuffling technique described here: http://www.learntarot.com/top.htm
the cards should last a good long time.

It is also true that the authors stray from the traditional interpretation of the cards. I have thoroughly enjoyed their spiritual transformation orientation. A friend once told me that our subconscious is so anxious to communicate with us that it will use any symbol system we choose to employ, I believe this to be true, and enjoy exploring different symbols as well as experiencing the nuances between similar decks.

With this deck, I have especially enjoyed selecting just one card, and then exploring it in my journal for several days. For fun, I sometimes do a Google search with the name of the card, for example, "Passionate Play". Sometimes what shows up is synchronicity in action. That in turn, can become more fodder for the journal.

4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful cards, but odd card interpretations, Sep 29 2003
By

This tarot deck is absolutely beautiful. It's the most beautiful deck I've seen so far. The pictures are dreamlike and full of symbolism. They have definite Indian and Native American influences - some of the pictures are clearly taken from a Native American setting, and the Indian influence is also clearly apparent, as in the Tower card, which is renamed Kali. I would definitely recommend this deck because of the pure beauty of it.

But if you're going to use this deck, I would suggest not using the meanings in the book that comes with it, but instead use more traditional meanings for the cards. A lot of the card meanings in the book bear only a passing resemblance to traditional meanings, and sometimes not even that much. There's nothing wrong with reinterpreting the cards a little so that they fit with the view you have of them, but it almost seems like the authors here were trying to create a whole new system. For example, the description of the Nine of Cups starts out like this: "One of the traditional meanings given this card is "free-flowing feeling." Since we have been looking at defensive strategies in the suit of Cups, we use this card to represent the cutting off from feelings that accompanies the defense of intellectualizing." Their meaning clearly bears very little resemblance to the original meaning. And the authors decided that the suit of Wands should represent the chakras, which leads to card interpretations that have virtually no connection with the cards' original meanings.

Some might find the authors' card meanings useful. But I've had much better luck using traditional meanings with these cards. When I tried using the authors' meanings, I didn't get anywhere.

I would definitely recommend using this deck. The illustrations are lovely and speak to your intuition. However, I suggest not using this deck unless you're fairly familiar with the tarot, and I would recommend disregarding the meanings in the accompanying book. It's somewhat irritating to have to do this, but this really is an amazing deck.

Simply put, this is an amazing deck. It is clear that the authors must have been divinly inspired to create such a work or art. This deck is very sturdy, the cards are in my oppinion...perfect.....It is deffinently worth the price......If you are looking for a truly spiritual deck.....BUY THIS ONE!!!!!!!!

Greetings All~
I donot agree with the person who wrote in saying that the cards are of poor quality. I found them to be very sturdy and printed on excelent card stock. These are by far one of the most beautiful and insightfull decks I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The book that accompanies the deck is also very well written and can be used to help with many of lifes questions. This deck is valueable for both Divination aswell as a tool for personal meditation. All in all this is a true gem among the myriad of other decks out there. It is well worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality, July 2 2003

I'll make this short. I loved the artwork and psychological concept of this deck. It was truly beautiful and innovative. The reason I gave this 2 stars is because the paper quality of the cards is absolutely awful. I returned mine! A set this expensive with such poor quality cards in inexcusable. The publisher should be ashamed. I think it is a widespread problem, as I saw similar comments for the Tarot of Paris, which is published by the same people. If you plan on using this deck for readings I'm not so sure its worth the $$ - as I can't see the cards lasting very long. In addition to the very very thin paper stock, many of the edges were jagged. The author and the artist should really have a word with the publisher. It is a shame!

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings, Jan 13 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Tarot of Transformation: Chart Your Own Course to Healing and Spiritual Awakening (Paperback)
Ok, let's start off with the good points. I have to say, the pictures on the cards are BEAUTIFUL and BREATH TAKING! You'll definately be captivated by these pictures. However, I'm VERY dissapointed with the quality of the cards, they are so thin, and easily bendable. These cards will not stand a chance of being use over a period of many years, in other words, they are not very durable, but maybe they will last if they're used gently, but I could deal with that. What I can't deal with is the fact that the authors changed the universal meanings of the some of the cards, which makes me feel that if I use these cards, I have to learn the meanings all over agian, which sucks! My final word is, I look at these cards, and I say to myself, "It is TOO BAD! Such beautiful cards, why did they have to ruin it by re-creating the meanings of some of these cards, and the cards having suc poor quality?!". Again, If these cards even kept the same meanings, I would see past the poor quality, and would definately give the ratings 5 stars, it angers me that I can't do that! That's how beautiful these pictures are. $40 is a lot of money to get poor quality with the wrong meanings. If you can get these cards for at least half the price, then I still say buy 'em! Well, I hope this review helps somebody.
