5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest
Over the years I've subscribed to THE NEW YORKER on an off, trying to understand the enigmatic short stories, liking the poetry, enjoying the commentaries, and ALWAYS loving the cartoons. What would we do without that scruffy family--the drooling dog, the cat that was one step away from rabies, the downtrodden-looking old man--you know the ones I'm talking about. There...

1.0 out of 5 stars cd rom is not compatible with mac os lion
One warning: Know that you will not have access to the cdrom if you have macintosh.
So, if you have mac don't buy this product or at least know that you will not get what is advertised.

I contacted the publisher, Black Dog & Leventhal, but they couldn't be bothered to answer.

The cd rom contains all the cartoons from 1925 to 2006. The new mac os...

This review is from: The Complete Cartoons of The New Yorker (Hardcover)
Over the years I've subscribed to THE NEW YORKER on an off, trying to understand the enigmatic short stories, liking the poetry, enjoying the commentaries, and ALWAYS loving the cartoons. What would we do without that scruffy family--the drooling dog, the cat that was one step away from rabies, the downtrodden-looking old man--you know the ones I'm talking about. There are others, but those come to mind first. My attention span and liking for the NY based mag has waxed and waned over the years, but the love of the cartoons has stayed consistent. This is the best of the best--cartoons you've remembered over the years and laughed out loud about seemingly out of nowhere, remembering them. A few years ago someone published the NEW YORKER book of poems and those were equally as good. Run, don't walk, to buy this latest addition to the laughter canon. Great stuff.

I also very much enjoyed two other books, neither of which is a cartoon, but both have their merits: DRESS YOUR FAMILY by Sedaris and BARK OF THE DOGWOOD by McCrae. Both are excellent and, for the most part, very funny.

I contacted the publisher, Black Dog & Leventhal, but they couldn't be bothered to answer.

The cd rom contains all the cartoons from 1925 to 2006. The new mac os lion doesn't accept
this cdrom. I browsed through the cd rom before but, after upgrading to mac os lion, I can't access it
anymore. So, if you have mac don't buy this product or at least know that you will not get what is advertised.
Even if you are still using snow leopard or leopard you will need to upgrade to the lion at some point and then "bye, bye, cdrom."
