A Great Book with Creative Excercises,
By
This review is from: 101 Jumping Exercises for Horse & Rider (Plastic Comb)
I've used this book all winter to help keep my horses in shape without jumping the 'big jumps'. There are a lot of excellent exercises at varying levels that will keep you and your horse interested in arena training. They have helped strengthen all of my horses and myself as a rider, and the winter riding is much more exciting. After mastering these exercises, there isn't anything that will pop up in the show ring we can't handle. Really a great book. I use something from it everyday.

All the information is straight forward so anyone can understand them and use them without getting into trouble. I recommend it highly for anyone wanting to get the most out of their horses. I bought this book hoping to introduce simple and concise exercises to my youngster. What I was delighted to find, was a step by step manual describing basic flatwork right up to and including more difficult grid and course work. Excellent book which I highly recommend.

An excellent outline of basic exercises that can help horses and rider hone the skills needed to safely and correctly navigate courses. Well designed gymnastics with excellent descriptions and explanations as to the point of the exercise are fantastic.

The layout, illustrations and occasional words of wisdom found in this book can only help develop positive results for both horse and rider. What I especially liked is the variety of exercises and the gradual progression from basic fundamentals to the challenge levels. More importantly though, after three months of practicing some of the more basic and intermediary flatwork exercises with my four year old horse, the results are obvious even to the greenest of eyes. With no boredom setting in! Truly a well thought out book of exercises that ought be part of any training programme for horse and rider development.

Finally, a SUPER book written for those who desire to help train their own horses. Written by an expert course designer in the show jumping field, clinician, and also a one time competitor herself, Linda Allen has definitely proved she knows her "stuff" with her new book. I would definitely recommend this book for those of us who strive for competitive perfection. Keep up the good work - Linda - I can hardly wait for the next book!!!

Finally, a complete, comprehensive book of gymnastic exercises from the ground up - in an easy to use format! Great for someone aspiring to jump, as well as someone looking to improve their flatwork. If you can jump through all these gymnastics by the woman who designed the Jumping courses for the Atlanta Olympic Games, you are definitely headed in the right direction! Plus, the guest list includes three (multiple!) Gold medalists and other leading riders and trainers. A must have for the Equestrian library!
