5.0 out of 5 stars No Time to Cry, May 17 2004
This review is from: No Time To Cry (7-12) (Paperback)
My favorite book is No Time to Cry. its about a girl Dawn and she had cancer for two years, and she met this guy Jake, and she known him since the fifth grade? Dawn was walking to school one day to catch the bus. Jake hollered her name she turned around and nobody was there Jake moved up closer to her and said her name again. Jake asked her if she wanted a ride to school, she said yes? Ater school was over Jake caught up with Dawn he asked her if she wanted a ride home, she said no, because she had to leave somewhere, but she really didn't she had an appointment to go to with Katie her nurse that helps her with things if she needs help?Dawn woke up one morning her throat was swollen and she had a rash on her arms, she went to the doctor and he said she might have cancer again, so Dawn had so back to the hospital and the doctor said she will have to stay for another year or two?

4.0 out of 5 stars Memories, July 22 2003

Krista Schrader (Jacksonville, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Time to Cry (Paperback)
This, being the forth book in the Dawn Rochelle series, has a lot to do with something we can all relate to: memories. Through out this whole book, Dawn is facing nightmares of memories coming back to haunt her. She is faced with remembering Sandy and Marlee, as well as her own times in the hospital. This is very hard on Dawn, seeing as she's trying to get on with a normal life without cancer. This life is interupted by a rash that sends Dawn into a panic about weither or not Rob's marrow is working in her or if it's failing. This book will make you think that every horrible memory in your mind, really isn't anything compared to what some people go through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anything by Lurlene Mcdaniel is great, Oct 4 2002
By A Customer
I love reading her books, she's a great author. She really understands how cancer people think and feel. And I should know, comsidering I am a cancer survivor. Dawn Rochelle is like me in a way, I also had a BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant).
(insert from book) >> But no matter how long she stays in remission, Dawn fears that her battle with cancer will always be with her.<< This is very true. I have been in remission for 4 year, but I still remember almost everything and I will always wonder if my Leukemia will come back. Anyway, this is a GREAT book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine, ongoing story of courage and struggle, Jun 4 2002
This review is from: No Time to Cry (Paperback)
Dawn Rochelle has overcome cancer and chemotherapy; now she just wants to be a normal high school student. But no matter how she tries she can't escape the shadows of her battle - and its effects on new friendships and old. A fine, ongoing story of courage and struggle.

This review is from: No Time to Cry (Paperback)
Out of all of the Dawn Rochelle novels, I liked this one the least. But it is still a good book.

After all all that Dawns been through, she wants nothing, but to be a normal teenager. An ordinary high school student. She wants to worry about getting her drivers liscene (I know, I cant spell) going to dances, going to the mall, and getting her crush since the 7th grade who just moved back, Jake Macka, to notice her; not if shes going to stay in remission, or the memory box she is asked to do in Marlees honor. She wants nothing to do with her past. But soon, she has to be put in the hospital because he finds little bumps on her forhead after she takes a shower one night. Is her bone marrow transplant rejecting? Read the mook to find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touched By Faith and Hope, May 11 2001

This review is from: No Time to Cry (Paperback)
The Dawn Rochelle Novels are so breath-taking. The first time I read them I was so surprized that a book could not only show people about what really people facing these problems go through but lets you feel it too. It teaches you that you don't need to be afraid of the things that take life away. That you shouldn't feel singled out and feel hated because bad things happen to you, cause it can happen to anyone. I really recommend the Dawn Rochelle Novels because no other book can make you feel how the person feels as if you were them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book about Dawn, Aug 4 2000
By A Customer
I like this book a lot. It's about Dawn trying to fit in with "normal" people. She is also unsure about her future. I like it in the end when she speaks at the cancer center dedication and she realizes that she has a good future and lots of things that she can do with it. There should be more books about Dawn. She's one of the best Lurlene McDaniel characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book!!!!!!!, July 22 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: No Time to Cry (Paperback)
I love reading the Dawn Rochelle series because they are interesting and they teach me about what kids with diseases suffer through. I really wish there were more books in the series so I could read about Rob and Katie's wedding and what happens the next year at camp- and what happens with Dawn and Jake at camp.

4.0 out of 5 stars The book was interesting and taught me about cancer., Oct 21 1998

This review is from: No Time to Cry (Paperback)
Dawn Rochelle has been through more then kids here age, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, and the death of her best friend. Dawn just turned sixteen, and wants to lead a normal life in high school. She wants people to forget her past, and think about her future. Will Dawn's cancer return to scare off her lifr once more? I really enjoyed reading this book, because it let me see what it would be really like to have cancer. There was something going on, which helped the suspense of the story more interesting. This book was very sad one, and overall was a very meloncoly book. The book was fiction, but you have to wonder about real teenagers, the ones who are dieing everyday because of cancer. Lurlene McDaniel does a great character sketch of Dawn, really opening her up, showing the reader her hopes, and dreams. For example, in the book, Dawn lies in her hospital bed writing in her diary, and wishing she could go to th efootbal game with her friends. One of the saddest parts in the reading book, was when Dawn had to celebrate her birthday in her hospital bedroom. All her friends came, bringing her presents. Asthey left, all they talked about was how fragile Dawn looked, and they finally realized how sick she really was!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book lets others know how cancer victoms feel., Feb 26 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: No Time to Cry (Paperback)
For a long time, I never knew much about cancer. Well, I guess I knew what it was, but not until after reading this book was I really sure how it felt. Dawn was a very courageous young girl. I doubt I would be able to deal with all she had to if I had cancer. I have not read the other books about Dawn, but I think I will now. A firend recommended that I read this. I felt every ounce of pain Dawn felt throughout the entire book. I like books that are so moving that you could not put them down. That is how this one was for me. Each night while I lay in bed after reading a chapter in the book, I wondered what was next for Dawn in her battle with cancer. If Dawn were here, I would tell that she is certainly the most bravest person I know. I am glad that I now know how cancer victoms feel because many of us don't understand half of what they have to go through. I think everyone should read this book!
