I finally wrote up my PhD dissertation, thanks to this book!,

This review is from: Now Habit (Paperback)
I read this book one year ago when I was stuck in the middle of my PhD thesis. I became very much energised and felt positive, as I discovered that the key word was 'commitment' in my case, to which 'unscheduling' was of great help. The book is written with plain English and so readable - not a single boring bit or 'dry' bit.I have just submitted my PhD thesis, but it was really tough during the last 2 months before I finished. However, I remembered all the techniques Dr Fiore explained in this book and overcame the toughest stage! Frankly, without reading this book it would have been much harder for me to finish my thesis (or I might have just given it up). I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is stuck in his/her long projects, particularly for writing. One of the best self-help books I've ever come across.

This book is great if you are stuck trying to get the same things done and you find yourself not doing a thing except maybe plopping yourself in front of the television. I got this book out of the library and was 3 weeks late returning it so what does that say about me? I eventually ended up purchasing the book to work on my problem.

This is the best book dealing with the subject of procrastination. The subject matter is approached in such a way that once you read this book you will realize, (especially if you make a concerted effort in reading other books on the same subject) that this book is a true gem among books. I cannot begin to express the great sense of relief that i feel to have found a book that approaches the real reasons for my procrastination. If you suffer from procrastination and make a real effort in reading and UNDERSTANDING this book, there is no doubt in my mind that you will beat the demons of procrastination. Only you know the real pain of procrastinating, you know what im talking about. the missed assignments, the feelings of guilt, the sense of feeling trapped and feeling tremendously frustrated. You know the toll they take on you and you know how powerless you feel. This is your chance to face your demons. Finally learn to deal with the "I have to" and "I should have" burdens that have stiffled you.Read this book unless you want to remain in the same hell hole that you live in now!

I've recommended this book to everyone I know. The techniques are simple, practical, and they WORK. As a writer I have found the sign-in system especially effective. It's easy to be down on yourself abut how much you have left to finish, but if you give yourself credit for how much you have done, work goes much better.

Is written in a very practical and easy to understand style. The author describes the personal "reasoning" for procrastination and how to deal with it to successfully accomplish your objectives. I wish I read it years ago!!!

Useful Wisdom,
This review is from: Now Habit (Paperback)
The Now Habit conveys some useful wisdom. In a nutshell: to work, you have to feel good about yourself; through work you can feel good about yourself. Of course, there's more to it than this. We all will get different things out of the book. But I think the book's message is useful, important, and well-conveyed. OK,now back to work!

I didn't even finish reading the book.,

This review is from: Now Habit (Paperback)
I found the book a little too much "It's okay, you are still a good person even if you procrastinate" in it's approach. I know I'm a good person, even though I put things off. What I wanted was motivation and ideas to get things done. "The Now Habit" didn't provide that, not even enough motivation to finish the book.

a boring book,

This review is from: Now Habit (Paperback)
This book is a clunky, poorly designed, uninspiring book filled with cliches that put one to sleep. It seems written for bureaucrats and corporate clones. Instead, wake up, and delight yourself with The Procrastinator's Handbook!!! Much much much better. Refreshing, beautifully designed if that matters to you, not ponderous and redundant like The Now Habit. Says it all, in fewer, better written words.
