Be careful! Be discerning!
on November 10, 2015
Be careful with this line of teaching. I read this book and enjoyed it at first, but later discovered the origins, errors, and dangers of such teachings.
I am a Christian, and was drawn to this book, because the author speaks of God and Christ, and cleverly uses scripture to bastardize the truth. Only later in life did I mature in my faith and understanding of the Bible, enough to see the holes and grave mis-teachings of The Secret of the Ages, and others like it. Look up Theosophy, New Age, the Law of Attraction, etc. They are all essentially the same.
This book's philosophies are similar to those in the theosophical teachings of Helena Blavatsky and Alice Bailey, both of whom were Lucifarians. They received their teachings from the "master" in the spiritual realm. They, too, speak of Christ, but they twist the truth, fooling anyone not strong enough in their faith and understanding of the true Word of God.
There is a dangerous trend towards prosperity teachings today, even in our Christian churches. Oprah teaches it, Hollywood glorifies it. Be careful. Be discerning. God is concerned with saving souls. Jesus died so that we can be redeemed. His focus is on the eternal. He may give you prosperity in this life, but He may not. Draw near to Him, and He will give you all that you need. His greater purpose for you is targeted on your salvation and His eternal Kingdom. Put your faith in Him alone.
This book is dangerous to the young Christian, and the seeker alike. At the back of the book, Collier answers readers' questions. He states that the Devil is not a real being, but the sum total of man's blah, blah, blah (I threw the book out, so I'm afraid I cannot quote directly). You can bet that the Devil is a real being, and he has had his part in the creation and spread of teachings like those in The Secret of the Ages, Theosophy, New Age, and the prosperity teachings in Christian churches today. Please be careful and discerning. Seek your wisdom in the Bible, and let the Holy Spirit quide you.
