I was excited to get this book after reading Networking Fundamentals cover to cover. The authors of this book are different and the change was painful. They're unable to introduce new concepts without voluntarily adding extraneous details and then backpedaling and saying it's outside the scope of this book. I never once got the feeling there was a guy who knew his stuff and gave a thought to how to effectively communicate it to beginners. They get so caught up in trying to use the proper terminology when explaining, say, EIGRP route determination, it comes out as garbage no one can understand. It feels like it's been edited by numerous Cisco guys, each afraid of saying too much or saying the wrong thing.
With all the IT books out there, this book is just a waste of time and space. If it's required for your curriculum, get something like Network Warrior if you want to get a better understanding of the material.
