Kit is broken up into 2 books. One covers the CCENT/ICND1 portion, which you can use alone to do the current 640-822 exam. The other book covers the ICND2 portion, which you can use to do the 640-816 exam. Do both those exams qualifies you do get the CCNA Certification. You can also study both books together and take the current 640-802 exam and also get the CCNA Certification with that one single exam. I chose the 2 exam option, and with the amount of information in these 2 books I would recommend that for anyone who isn't vastly familiar with the contents.
Overall, the quality of the writing is good, with easy explanation which ramps up in difficulty at an even pace, rather than just throwing you in at the deep end with no easier foundation. It's important to get a good understanding of the basics, and I would recommend that a person studying also has readily available equipment at hand to be able to practice on.
Only down side is the silly, unimpressive software that comes on the CD. It's sold as a good source of extra information, but is fairly useless.

I found this to be an excellent resource to prepare for the CCNA examinations. Concepts are clearly developed and explained as the author begins with the basics and keeps layering on more detail. There is enough repetition as the concepts are developed that the reader gains a clearer and clearer grasp as they work through the text. Rather than just give the answers to problem sets, there are detailed explanations, sometimes covering several pages. A very good choice for those pursuing the CCENT and/or CCNA.
