5.0 out of 5 stars I timed these recipes.
I have actually used my stopwatch to time myself making several of these recipes, and I really was right around 15 minutes! The few that took me a minute or two longer I chalked up to my inexperience as a cook, or not having a certain ingredient at my fingertips before I started. My favorites so far have been Fish and Asparagus with Tarragon Mustard Sauce, Easy Mexicali...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes fast *is* more important than great
There are some good recipes in this book, but too many of them seem to be of the throw-together-don't-really-need-a-recipe variety. If you really detest cooking I suppose those would be valuable. Dana Carpender *is* strict about adhering to her 15-minute rule, though, which is a big help on those too-busy-to-cook days. I wouldn't rely on this as my only low-carb...

The few that took me a minute or two longer I chalked up to my inexperience as a cook, or not having a certain ingredient at my fingertips before I started. My favorites so far have been Fish and Asparagus with Tarragon Mustard Sauce, Easy Mexicali Chicken, and Fried "Rice" (cauliflower). I've even made some of the recipes before work in the morning, taken a serving with me for lunch, then had the rest available for dinner, if I wanted it. Great idea for our busy lives, Dana!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightfully Useful Surprisingly Good, May 6 2004
This review is from: 15 Minute Low-Carb Recipes: Instant Recipes for Dinners, Desserts, and More! (Paperback)
I've been low-carbing for years and years, so I have checked out most of what's on the market - especially as the "fad" aspects have increased, with fake-foods and marketing everywhere, most "low carb" cookbooks have been a real disappointment. This one is a keeper - useful, sensible, delicious and actually 15 minutes to prepare in most cases. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you only buy two low-carb books, make one your particular plan's official tome, and make the other one Dana Carpender's book.

Dana Carpender *is* strict about adhering to her 15-minute rule, though, which is a big help on those too-busy-to-cook days. I wouldn't rely on this as my only low-carb cookbook, nor do I consider it a must-have, although it rounds out a collection. If time isn't your only concern, I recommend Extreme Lo-Carb Cuisine by Sharron Long, which has more interesting and inspired recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank You Dana, I just made an Omelet for the First Time!, May 13 2004

I want low carb but I'm also lazy. If it's complicated, I'm not going to make it. Not only are the recipes delicious, but super easy to follow. The last time I tried to make an omelet it was the exact consistency of foam rubber; I just thought I'd never be able to do it (and I love them). I followed Dana's easy omelet instructions and just had a delicious one for breakfast. Thank you Dana!

My boyfriend and I both work long hours and the thought of cooking when we got home was usually met with a groan and a reach for the pizza delivery number. He decided he really wanted to do this low-carb diet and my mother saw this book and recommended it. I can not sing its praises enough. It got me into the kitchen after work and if you knew me that'd be enough proof right there :D but the meals truely are fast and delicious. Now we are eating and feeling a lot better since I started using this book.

I bought this since trying to eat low-carb when you have 30 minutes between jobs to throw something together is much harder than it should be. So far, I've absolutely loved every recipe I've tried! Well, okay, all but one - the Pork Crusted Pork burnt something awful despite following the directions to the letter. That one exception aside, Dana Carpender's directions are almost stupidly easy to follow, and unlike some other time-oriented cookbooks I've found, this one actually gets it right! I had the Not-Just-For-Breakfast Burrito for dinner tonight, and it was fabulous. It's true that most of the recipes aren't exactly haute cuisine, but for me, it's been a wonderful introduction to what really CAN be accomplished with fifteen minutes in the kitchen. I'd definitely buy a sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for any low carber, Mar 26 2004
This review is from: 15 Minute Low-Carb Recipes: Instant Recipes for Dinners, Desserts, and More! (Paperback)
Are you interested in eating more healthily, but hate to cook? Dana Carpender does it again with this amazing collection of quick, easy, healthy recipes.

I have and enjoy her previous book on 500 Low Carb Recipes, so I picked this one up as soon as I saw it. Like many people out there, I am thrilled to have quick and easy recipes to make. I don't always want to spend hours in the kitchen!

There are bunches of 15 minute breakfasts, collections of 15 minutes chicken and turkey dishes, 15 minute salads and tuna dishes. There is even a collection of slow cooker recipes that only take 15 minutes of prep time.

There are soups and dipping sauces, drinks and vegetables, and of course desserts!

If you think low carb has to be difficult or boring, think again. These dishes are quick, healthy, and quite delicious. Highly recommended!

Three more cheers for Dana Carpender! This book is loaded with USEFUL low-carb recipes that even cooking dunces such as myself can prepare with reasonable success. Every recipe is easy, made with just a few ingredients, and involves only a few steps to make. And they taste good! This is the key formula to low-carb success, as far as I'm concerned.

Just like with "500 Low-Carb Recipes" (my low-carb cooking Bible), I have tons of post-it stickies hanging out of this book, marking my favorite recipes. Some of the ones I like the most are "Parmesan Chicken Breasts," and "Fauxtatoes."

In addition to the wonderful recipes, Dana offers some great information about low-carb products on the market, and suggests which items to keep on hand in your pantry.

Add this book to your low-carb cooking shelf. You won't be disappointed!

While I loved her first cookbook, I found myself shying away from its use as some of the recipes took too long to prepare. As a father of 2 toddlers, there is little time to camp out in the kitchen when I get home from work. Dana Carpender to the rescue! With this cookbook I am able to prepare healthy low-carb meals in 15 minutes that taste like I spent an hour cooking.
Thanks, Dana!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, Feb 24 2004

This book has been a life saver for me as I struggle to come up with fast low-carb meals for my family and I to enjoy. I recently purchased the book, and already have my favorite meal...Parmesan Chicken. This recipe is so easy and delicious. It can be modified by adding some low-carb spaghetti sauce over the top.

Please try this book. The recipes are very simple and taste great!
