This review is from: What Would Audrey Do? (Hardcover)
How many people out there have really asked themselves, 'What would Audrey do?'. Because she seemed to know it all, to have it all together. Wouldn't we all want to have that? Well, that must have been what the author, Miss (married?) Keogh seemed to think.

Overall, this was a pretty decent book. Divided up into chapters of different situations, it was well organized. Surprisingly, for a book solely about Audrey, it would seem obvious to have actual pictures of her, but alas, all we got were some cheesy drawings. Cheesy drawings. Speaking of 'we'- when the author is recommending high-end things that we (and she suspects Audrey would) should buy, she says things like, "We like this designer candle because...". Who is 'WE'? Her little Audrey imitating posse? Please. It seems like such a minute thing but it is repeated so many times it's irritating. And what makes her think Audrey would read, 'Vanity Fair' on an airplane? She doesn't know Audrey better than those of us who've read 3+ biographies!

Some things were pretty obvious. Others, it felt like she added in there to make more room. Miss Keogh would repeat the same concept from a previous chapter but just use a different title and add different quotes (and repeat the quotes). The same hypothesis of not talking about yourself (as impossible to do as that is) was repeated and subsequently rephrased 4 times. Also, I felt like (as much as Miss Keogh said she tried not to) the author put Audrey on a pedistal. Often refering to everyone who wasn't Audrey as 'we'. Like, "...as all of us fail to do". As if Miss Keogh was the reincarnation of Audrey.

Ironically, she got lazy and refered to Audrey as 'AH'. That bothered me so much. Have an iota of respect- enough to at least type her first name. Not just, "...then AH said..." Please.

Nevertheless, I did learn some things I didn't know before. It was nice that I got to read a watered-down version of important events in Audrey's life so I wasn't confused. She really simplified Audrey which I liked.

But overall I feel she painted a very superficial portrait of Audrey. And from that I don't think I'll buy 'Audrey Style'. Hope I helped!
