I've been buying a lot of mixed media books lately. Most of them are good for visual inspiration and some of them detail some useful techniques. This one however stands out because it also shows, step-by-step, how a piece of art evolves. It's fascinating - and illuminating - to see the layers being added to give the piece depth and texture and colour and harmony. I'm finally starting to understand how a piece achieves unity, how it becomes art. I highly recommend this book.

I bought 3 of these books one for myself and two friends. We are all impressed. Ann gives lots of safety information using mixed media ingredients that never even occurred to me. She has lots of information that we can all learn from.

I just loved how this book showed you the different techniques that you could do as well as took you through them step by step, showing how the project started out and then how it ends. There were alot of great tips and it was easy to understand and the artwork was visual eye candy!!

Excellent resource for mixed media artists and those experimenting and learning. Lots of picture demos of different techniques.

The examples in this book are truly inspirational, and the step-by-step instructions invite you to experiment on your own while still following the guidelines. I am a returning mixed media artist and I couldn't wait to get back to it after reading Creative Paint Workshop.

I highly recommend this book, it helped me a lot to learn different techniques for layering and texture. If you are a beginner, then this book is for you.
