As is true of all Red Pine's translation works, this truly is a fine book, be it for curious newcomers to the subject of buddhism, for seekers of enlightenment or for academics. The book consists in the translation itself, which makes up about only 2 pages of the book, and in a much bigger section (itself divided into chapters) dedicated to sentence-by-sentence explanations and Indian and Chinese commentaries that just enrich it all. Also, as the explanations/commentaries go on, each sentence of the sutra is provided anew so you don't have to shuffle back to the translation itself at the beginning of the book. I can't wait to read his other translations (Diamond Sutra and Platform Sutra).
