5.0 out of 5 stars The best theoretical book I have ever read !!
While I do agree with other evaluators insomuch that this is a book of complexity, it should also be everyone's MUST READ OF THE DECADE! Having been interested and involved in theoretical physics for over a decade, I have read countless books and articles on life theories, cosmology, string and quantum theory, consciousness, etc.... After having done so, however, I...

3.0 out of 5 stars On the Fringe of Science
Potential readers for this book need to know that some familiarity with the basic concepts of science is required to understand what is discussed in Science and the Akashic Field. But if you are already a scientist brace yourself for a wild ride!

After having done so, however, I found myself filled with factoids of event probability but lacking a coherent concept that would tie these diverse thoughts and concepts together. Ervin Laszlo did that for me! Yes, his text does become somewhat cumbersome at times and must be read slowly, but the concepts presented do tie the past, the present and eternity tightly together. The cutting edge of science is finally beginning to have answers to the questions that have been with us throughout our civilization.

3.0 out of 5 stars On the Fringe of Science, Aug. 30 2014

This review is from: Science And The Akashic Field Revised (Paperback)
Potential readers for this book need to know that some familiarity with the basic concepts of science is required to understand what is discussed in Science and the Akashic Field. But if you are already a scientist brace yourself for a wild ride!

Ervin Laszlo is not a timid. He is sure of himself and strongly believes in his own capabilities. His own genius.

Although familiar with the ideas that are presented in this book, and open minded towards any bold proposition on the "fringe" of science, I was taken aback by the numerous affirmations that Laszlo wants to shove down our collective throat. It's one affirmation after the other, and there is no room for discussion. You take it or you leave it.

It's almost like if God had revealed to Laszlo, and no one else, how the world was created. But make no mistake, this book is no more spiritual than it is scientific. It is certainly not mystical as some reviewers have claimed. Fringe science is the best way to characterize this work.

I have nothing against fringe science because I know that many concepts of today's science were at one point considered as "fringe science" before they were integrated to the mainstream of science. And this could very well be the case one day for what Laszlo proposes here. But in his mind there is no doubt at all that he has discovered how the universe works.

In regards to what some avant-garde scientists had to say about the universe Laszlo presents their theories as "imaginative working hypothesis", and he calls those hypothesis "fables". But he doesn't seem to realize that what he proposes is itself "fabulous". For he makes fabulous assumptions about the nature of the world as if it was objective reality. In many respects what he claims are often very interesting propositions, but they are not presented that way. They are most of the time gratuitous affirmations. Unsubstantiated scientific claims.

Again, make no mistake, it is not pseudo-science. It is real science. But it is not conducted rigorously as one would expect from someone with an academic background like Laszlo has. But it is also true that he is more a philosopher than a scientist. And we all know what the inimitable Richard Feynman thinks of philosophers!

Personally I have nothing against philosophy. On the contrary, I love philosophy. Especially the philosophy of science. But Laszlo seems to be confusing the two. Science can become philosophy; but in my opinion philosophy is not, and will never be, science. They each play a different role. And we need both.

But Laszlo went too far and crossed the line between the two, like when Caesar crossed the Rubicon. And like him Laszlo never turned back. He never even looked back. It's all forward the moment you open the book. The author charges all along and nothing will stop him. And he takes no prisoners on his way to the throne of the Universe.

I found that this book was not an easy read, that is because I had to skim through it to get a sense of the ideas presented, and then re-read it slowly to digest the concepts presented. The immediate idea was that of the human body as an quantum energy continumn, the quantum information field is what allows one's body-mind to respond so quickly to stiumuli in the environment. That and other organisms as well. This quantum energy field continues through the entire universe. A very useful and complex book.
