The Sagan Diary, Jan 30 2012
This review is from: The Sagan Diary (Hardcover)
This book is very much part of the Old Man's War series; the reader's understanding of most of what is written here is dependant on having read at least the first two books. It is surprising though how very different this book is to the rest of the series, these diary entries being one long love letter. Mr. Scalzi's skill at writing is clearly evident here, and the style used compliments what the reader will find in his other books.

deep but not fullfilling, July 25 2011
This review is from: The Sagan Diary (Hardcover)
Don't buy this book unless you have read the Old Man's War series. It is an interesting insight into what it could be like with instant thought to thought communication but if you didn't already know Jane it's confusing as to where she's coming from and where she went. It is solely a companion book to a great series and the fact that it's lttle more than a slightly long "short story" made into longer book by double spacing, large print and multiple empty pages that are numbered made me wish it had been collected into a collection of stories that might have justified the price. Sorry to sound so negative.
