Excellent Guide for D90 owners,
By
This review is from: David Busch's Nikon D90 Guide to Digital SLR Photography (Paperback)
This is my 2nd guidebook from David Busch (the other was for my "old" D50). And, like the first one I read, I highly recommend this book for those who felt the manual that came with the camera was not the greatest. The pictures were beautiful... wow, colour, what a concept! Most of the explanations were clear and simple. Always nice to see the before and after pictures for some of the concepts described. The book did have a few typos here and there. It's obvious that some of the paragraphs were copied from hit other guidebooks (e.g. Nikon D300). However, this did not take away from the essence of the book. I really liked it when the author tells us which options he uses and why. I just wish he would have done that for more of the options. I also own the Nikon D90 Digital Field Guide and I found that the David Busch book was better. I have no regrets about buying this book.

A number of concerns about this volume:too large to take with you, definitely a reference book rather than a guide book a lot of the book is about other aspects of photography rather than the camera itself and finally, just today this review was prompted because I needed to review active d lighting and this section is significantly flawed-the book refers to being only able to set on or off whereas there are a number of levels you could set (other books explain what they mean).

Best Nikon D90 book,

I read lots of books on the D90. Four actually, including the owner's manual. Out of respect for the other authors, I will not name those that I liked less. OK, I will mention D90 for Dummies which does get a "runner up award" as being also a good book. This one is the best. It quickly skips through the basics, which you should know if you are buying this kind of DSLR. After, you probably owned a "point and shoot" before and wanted more control more power and you upgraded to the big leagues. This book has the most little post-its tags that you have ever seen :-) Lots of great tips and tricks. Buy it! Max

Good Read for Beginners/Amateurs,

If you want to get a feel for what the camera can do, and how to navigate the camera, this may be the book for you. I definately agree with others when they say this book is definately a lot better to read than the included instructional manual. It gives you an overview of the camera as well as some tips and tricks for everday use.If you are looking for an overview, get this book. If you are looking at how you can take better pictures, go with some other generic book that will teach you the ins and outs of photography. =)

David Busch's Nikon D90 Digital SLR Photography guide is more useful than the user's manual, and of the available books is by far the best.
