Tao Te ChingI have read a number of translations of Lao Tzu's "Way of the Tao" (Tao-te Ching) and recommend that if you are seriously interested in Tao-ism that you check out Wing-Tsit Chan's translation. (I have a review on that version.) A straight translation, without commentary and explanations, might make good poetry (as does Stephen Mitchell's trendy attempt) but alternative translations, and the reasons for the choices of certain translationsook, are very helpful, as are explanations of key ideas as they arise or are reiterated throughout the book. Perhaps if you want to see if this 'philosophy' is for you, a translation such as this is adequate, but if you want to read further, or to enter the deep water, spend the extra money on the better work.Way of Lao Tzu, The
