Amazing book, well worth the price,
This review is from: Lonely Planet The Travel Book 1st Ed.: An A-Z Journey through Every Country in the World, 1st Edition (Hardcover)
I ordered this book, expecting a few nice photographs and maybe an idea or two for my next adventure. What I got was a book with over 400 pages and at least 2400 gorgeous full-coulor pictures. Also included are reading and music reccomendations, specific to each country, maps, ideas for what to do once you are there, and tonnes more. I'm considering buying a few more for like-minded family and friends, as the value is incredible for this massive hard cover coffee-table type of book.

This is a fantastic book. First of all the pictures. WOW. The pictures are so colourful, so bright and typical LP, the people, the landscape. True quality photographs. There is one huge picture for each country then about 5 little ones.

The Travel Wish Book,
This review is from: Lonely Planet The Travel Book 1st Ed.: 1st Edition (Paperback)
Absolutely spectacular photographs! This book is bigger than I expected, and it has more information than I could have hoped for. All the world's countries are presented in alphabetical order with maps, photos, and pertinent information. For each country, the book lists:-Best time to visit (visit India in November - March when it's cooler) -Essential experiences (watching King penguins at Volunteer Beach in the Falkland Islands) -Getting under the skin (drinking Inka Kola, bubble-gum flavoured fizz in Peru) -In a word (Yokwe yuk - love to you - traditional greeting in the Marshall Islands) -Trademarks (shipwrecks in the Cayman Islands) -Surprises (no traffic lights in Bhutan's capital, Thimphu) This is a fabulous, attention-getting book. We have browsed through it several times, and it has made us want to visit places which we had previously never considered. It is definitely a Wish Book for travel.

I was expecting some useful travel info - but this book is pretty much a large coffee table picture book. It is filled with 100's of National Geographic type photo's from every country in the world and a few sentences of random blurbs. Once you have looked at all the pictures, there isn't much further use for it.

Wow... all the countries in the world for 30$! Some of the images are breathtaking, and the description that comes with each country is enough to give an overview and want to make you learn more about this country. The only thing that deceived me a bit was that for some countries, all the pictures depict the same city (e.g. Czech Republic, 5 of the 6 pictures are of Prague) It would have been nice to have little more variety.

I read this book every morning as I eat my cereal. It is not only an amazing coffee table book but an awesome ice breaker and conversation starter when new people come over. Great pictures, awesome notes and I especially like the Random fact for each country.

This book will turn the couch potato into a wannabee world traveler. The photos are incredible and the text just enough to whet the appetite! For those that are travelers, this just confirms the fact that the beauty of the world is that to behold.
