I thought this was a good novel, an enjoyable addition to the Anita Blake series. It wasn't as good as the previous book in the series, The Harlequin, in my opinion, but it was still quite good. This is one of the few novels where Anita travels out of town, so it makes the tone of the book somewhat different. It also features Jason centre-stage. He's a character that started out as very minor, but stuck around and, like the other characters in the series, is developing and changing. Character development is one of the things I like about Laurell K. Hamilton's books.
