Great resource to have at onset of a project. Seems to have all the quick and dirty answers. Saved me alot of time and engineering costs with proper upfront planning.

Poorly revised edition,

Anyone who has a previous edition of this book: don't bother to buy the 2009 7th edition.It appears that E.W. McAllister ran out of steam and was satisfied with updating an article here and there but stopped well short from presenting the industry with a manual that reflects present day information. Take for example the article on Pipeline Economics: it references data from 1964 and 1980. The article is identical to that published in the 4th edition. The book contains progams for HP 41 calculators while the rest of the world is using Excel. References to important web sites are non-existing. Gulf Publishing should be looking for some enthused engineers who are willing to bring this book up to present day standards. |
