1.0 out of 5 stars Of Minimal Help
This book had very few useful details like where to eat, sleep, sightsee or shop. The best feature was its explanations of ancient Grecian sites. Overall, I regret purchasing it. I relied more on Fodor's for the practical aspects of my trip.

I was more than satisfied with the excellent practical information and suggestions. The guide is also filled with the perfect amount of information and a seeming love for the Greek people and islands, I almost fell in love with the Greek islands just by reading the guide before my trip. There is a great chapter on Athens and an extremely helpful few pages on overviews of islands.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic book, Mar 4 2000

This review is from: Greek Islands (Paperback)
The book helped us plan our island hopping trip by briefly categorizing the islands in the first section. The information on each island was very good and more than sufficient. The Athens section was very good also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Overall Guide for the Greek Islands, Mar 1 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Greek Islands (Paperback)
I bought this guide to use for a recent cruise to the Greek Islands. It was a perfect choice for the cruise experience. No matter where we went, adequate maps and enough information to spend a half or whole day exploring was well presented. I would also recommend it for planning a vacation. All of the islands are covered as well as how to get there and how to find acceptable accomodations. From what we discovered, the recommendations were right on. I would highly recommend this guide for anyone who wants to know a bit about all of the islands. It also covered Athens, although if you are a guide book junkie like me, you will want a separate guide if you plan to be more than one day in Athens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best overall Greek islands guide for independent travellers, Nov 21 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Greek Islands (Paperback)
After using various books on a number of Greek islands trips, we've found this to be the best overall book. It helps you select which islands to visit with quick summaries in the first pages. Then, the information on each island is excellent. The writing is engaging and entertaining. The descriptions of places to stay, things to do and food are right on target and well-chosen. It has just the right amount of combination of very brief 'history' and 'local traditions' sections blended in with all of the practical information. It has an excellent section on Athens, which some other "islands" books do not. Like any other guide book, we found a few addresses and local travelling directions to be incomplete; but, the general quality is excellent.
