5.0 out of 5 stars great!
As many have stated, this is a great book for explaining PCOS in non-technical/non-medical jargon. It's great for newly diagnosed women or for family/friends who are interested in learning about PCOS. I borrowed it from the library and it was version 2001. I'm going to look into buying the 2009 version to see if the information is more up-to-date.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Intro to PCOS
This was an easy read with good background info on PCOS. If you've already done alot of research, you won't find anything new here, but it is an extremely helpful book for the newly diagnosed or those who want general info regarding PCOS. Does have good info about PCOSA (support association).

The only downside, is like many books, it is American-centric with little to no information for Canadian PCOS women.

I've recently been diagnosed with PCOS and I purchased every book I could find on the subject. This book, by far, was the easiest to comprehend. It puts things into laymans terms without all the techinal mumbo-jumbo. Not only does it cover the symptoms of PCOS, but it also explains WHY things happen the way they do. Above all else, it goes through the different options PCOS suffers have in fighting the disorder, and lists the pros and cons of each. This is certainly a book I would recommend for anyone diagnosed with PCOS or their family members to help them understand more about what is going on with your body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good for newly diagnosed women, May 29 2004

I really like this book, it is very easy to read and eventhough it isn't very long it tells you almost everything you need to know about PCOS. I bought this book along with "What to do when the doctor says it's PCOS" and the "PCOS diet book" and I feel like I know a lot more about my desease than I did before, it's a must have for women with PCOS.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great place to start!, May 20 2004

Best-Boss knows has done a good job of outlining the basics of PCOS. It is an easy read and a great introduction to living with PCOS. So often women tell me that their doctors give them a diagnosis and send them on their way without any answers. This book should be required reading for all endocrinologists and GYNs. Perhaps then they would understand that PCOS is a complicated syndrome that is so much more than what we weigh or whether we can get pregnant on demand. Best-Boss offers a soothing explanation that can help diffuse the panic so many women feel when they first learn that they have PCOS. Read this book, then send a copy to your doctor!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for someone new to PCOS, Mar 14 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Living with Pcos: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (Paperback)
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and am glad I ordered this book. I'm sure it's not as indepth as others, but it is a great book to start off with if you are new to PCOS. It is very easy to read and easy to understand. It really helps you understand the symptoms of PCOS and the different ways they can be treated. After reading this book, I don't feel so overwhelmed with my condition and I feel like I am ready to move on to a more indepth book.

If your interested in looking for alternative therapies for PCOS this isn't the book to get. It was helpful in explaining and detailing the Syndrome but when it came to alternatives they leaned more towards perscribed medication and western medicine being the more wise route to take in healing and controlling PCOS Symptoms.

Side effects for Prescribed medication were also left out in this book. If there was mention, then it was that blatant that it went un-noticed by me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Living with PCOS? Look somewhere else!, Nov 8 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Living with Pcos: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (Paperback)
This book had no more info in it than I found on the internet. Way too basic, and little coping skills offered. Reads like an english paper. I suppose if you are interested in the fertilitly part- you may like this book, as that is a huge section. This went into NO detail on treatment options and was VERY dry.

Read this book first and found it to be a great start to reading more. Info was on target and up to date. Newly diagnosised PCOSers should start here.
