This review is from: Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes (Paperback)
Do yourself and everyone you care about a favor and read this book. It explains in detail the process of how good people, groups and nations are overcome and co-opted by psychological deviants and how they are used by the same. A detailed and open look at what is happening in the world and more specificially the United States will show the processes described in this book taking place. The subject of psychopathy and the impact it has on societies, institutions and individual people is knowledge that every person of conscience needs to understand. Books I would read along with this book that brings the subject of psychpathy to a higher level of understanding are 'Snakes in Suits', 'Without Conscience', 'The Sociopath Next Door', and 'The Authoritarians'. Currently reading 'Puzzling People' and will review it later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling but Essential Reading, Nov 24 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes (Paperback)
I'm not surprised this has received such high ratings; it's a work of such important and informative proportions that it should be required reading for every single person on the planet. Please don't think I'm being overly dramatic because it truly begins to explain the causes and maneuvers of evil in our world - how it has happened, continues to happen and will happen - and how so much suffering can come about in a relatively short period of time and from the influence of such a tiny minority.

Many confused individuals throughout history have looked towards race, gender, culture, religion or whatever to explain it, but it doesn't cut to the very essential root: the actual hard-wiring of the brain and how a select few have a different neurological structure; no compassion, no pity, no love, no conscience. Zilch. Not only that, it can be and most often is, completely masked with an act so contrived and realistic that the people left in their path of destruction hardly know what's hit them. This book deals with how these deviants rise to positions of power and steer the course of large societies towards complete lockdown and destruction.

And you know what? It's happening right now in the US, Australia, Europe and the Middle-east; all of the characteristics outlined by Lobaczewski in clinical detail have come to fruition and if people don't wake up soon, and integrate the information conveyed in this work, then we've all had it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read book for any HUMAN being!, Nov 6 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes (Paperback)
A great book that should be read by everybody as it provides valuable information in understanding why our society has seen a disappearance of human values and an increase in hedonistic behaviours with little care for others.

Lobaczewski's great contribution is in showing the process by which people with psychopathic personality disorders congregate and slowly take over organizations, political parties, businesses to finally stifle the whole of society.

It goes to great length in explaining the phenomenon of psychopathy on a macro scale. It deals in a non-judgmental way with the subject of evil. The author clearly lays out the various types of psychopathy and what happens when they combine their various talents and manage to take over a society from the inside and start to rule over normal people in the form of a pathocracy. Though the author primarily deals with examples from his own life experiences under the rule in the former Soviet Union, the parallels to today's world are chilling and very spot on. The book has many footnotes from the editor Laura Knight Jadczyk which clarifies and brings added information to some of the issues dealt with.

The book not only describes the process by which evil takes over but also how it progresses and how normal people can stand up to it. In order to do that, knowledge of the system is needed and that is what this book gives. As the author says at the end of the book then more research is needed, but it is a very profound seminal work that should inspire many to take up this important subject and continue the research.

After reading this book I read 'The Sociopath next door' by Martha Stout, 'In Sheeps Clothing' by George Simon, 'The Mask of Sanity' by Hervey Checkley and 'Without Conscience' by Robert Hare, all of whom deal with different aspects of the phenomenon of psychopaths but on a micro scale. Very complimentary!

Put this book on top of your reading list and pass it around to friends. The knowledge contained in this book could be what saves humanity going down the drain completely and move to towards human values again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge of evil and how to prevent it, Nov 3 2007

This review is from: Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes (Paperback)
It is said that men are born with a good nature. So why is it that there is so much destruction and suffering throughout the human history? Is evil real? How to stop it? This book has the answers to those questions. It is a summary of the first scientific study of what is called macro-social evil and the process by which it spreads in the society.

In the early parts of the book, the author gives an overview on the root cause of macro-social evil: the small percentage of psycho-pathological deviants who nevertheless have a disproportionally large influence on the minds of normal humans. Due to the lack of psychological knowledge among normal humans, these deviants easily infiltrate social groups, movements, etc. When the society is in a sufficiently hysterical state, the psychological deviants that are always present can transform the entire society into its worst form: a pathocracy. The most notable examples of that are the Roman empire and the Nazi Germany.

The latter parts are devoted to examining the life cycle of a pathocracy: how it forms, evolves and self-destructs. The good news is that a pathocracy self-destructs relatively quickly, just like a particularly dangerous virus quickly killing sick body. The bad news is that even in its short life cycle, a pathocracy can inflict unmeasurable damage to the lives of normal humans living under its rule and those living close to it.

Although it is not a light reading due to the need to compress so much knowledge into a reasonable-sized book, this book is a must read for every human beings with a conscience. It is particularly relevant today as the U.S. is well on the way to become a full-fledged pathocracy. To stop evil, we must first understand evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Eye-opener, Nov 6 2007

This book is THE most important book you will ever read. And it needs to be read by everyone.

Things are going downhill rapidly on this planet. And this book tell you why and what to do about it.

Psychopathy is not a laughing matter. It is real, it is here, and it needs to be taken seriously.

This book shows just exactly what makes a psychopath, how many different kinds there are, how they gain control of all branches of government, judicial and law enforcement, to universities, lawyers, physicians and even psychologists; and what to do about them.

People need to be made aware of this problem, because without this awareness, we will continue to be controlled by conscienceless, emotionless humanoids that care only for themselves and the power they want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Needs to be shared, Nov 3 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes (Paperback)
Right now, the most important book anyone with a conscience could read.

Learning that a minority of the population is without conscience, empathy, love, real emotion or remorse is eye opening. Learning that these individuals form a significant proportion of the power structure of many governments and operate whilst hiding their true nature from the majority of people, is invaluable.

Political Ponerology provides the knowledge. It describes what these individuals are, why and how they spread to infect a society of normal people and the impact these psychopaths and other deviants have on normal people - both individually and collectively - which inevitably is psychologically and physically destructive.

So, if you've got a conscience; if you wonder why this world seems to be spiralling into chaos, why there's endless war in the world, who makes the liberty sucking laws you live by, or even if you're just fed up with the soulless commercialism of modern society, this book was written for you.

Essential reading.
