This review is from: Swing, Swagger, Drape: Knit the Colors of Australia (Paperback)
OK, no one's left a review yet, so I'll give it a go (I want to get back to the book! I want to knit !).
I have books on miters, intarsia, and textured patterns - books that are well written and that I love.
So, although I was taken by the picture of the jacket on the cover (beautiful !) - a picture of the picture, as shown above (not the book in front of me) - well, I thought I didn't need/want another book on these techniques...

Then I was at a meeting where most of the women knit during the meeting (they can do 2 or more things at once, but I can't). These women are *real knitters*, meaning that they all create beautiful (some, award winning) pieces.
What's my point? - I'm used to seeing them knitting beautiful items.
And, they're picky about which books they purchase.

Well, at that meeting, the woman sitting next to me was knitting a mitered piece that I couldn't take my eyes off of... so, when there was a pause, I asked her what she was knitting, and she pulled this book out of her bag.
The book itself is beautiful - beautifully done.
Gorgeous pictures, and plenty of eye candy.
But, that's not all...

There are pages on technique (at the back - not for beginners, but certainly enough for anyone else).
There are a few pages at the back that are chuck full of info on Fit and Style... but, that's not the only place where she talks about fit and style - it's peppered throughout the book.
And the same goes for colour, and texture.

Colour - WOW ! Shape - WOW ! Texture - WOW ! Fit - WOW !
Style - WOW, WOW, WOW !!!

Well, the meeting took a bit of a break as the book was passed (really, grabbed for - but I'll say passed) around the room, with "oohs", and "aahhs" - from accomplished knitters... yes...
Everyone wanted to tuck it into their bag and take it home !
It's not the same old stuff... it's not something that's here today and gone tomorrow...

Quality book (shape/size, pictures, paper stock, binding, etc...) - yes.
Quality book (what's in those pictures and on those pages) - YES !
Beautifully done !

Did I purchase this book ? - Yes.
Am I glad that I purchased it ? - YES !
Is my name written on it (so it doesn't get lost in someone else's admiring hands) - YES !
Is it going on my book shelf... no... I want it out where I can see it ! (...and of course use it !)

Are you ready to take your knitwear to WOW ? (My answer was "YES !")

The book is wonderful, with a lot of pictures and projects inspiration.Although the instructions are not as clear as I wanted. This book is for intermediate and up knitters. Also, this book is a very good present for anyone who love to knit.

5.0 out of 5 stars wow is an understatement, Jan 12 2012

I am an australian (from queensland) living in Iceland and was drawn to this book because it is from an australian designer. I havent done any knitting for 40 years or so. When it arrived 2 days ago I was absolutely blown away by the detail and stunning photoes of both garments and landscape. The way the details of the 2 are intermingled through out the book is truly unusual and very inspiring. Ive already brought my needles and wool but have 1 problem, I cant decide which item to knit. Hopefully knitting is like riding a byke, you never forget how, so I think I will go with an intermediate level pattern. THe patterns themselves dont look that difficult, its the use of colour and construction thast makes them unique. The designs are all so unusual and I am sure it will be lots of fun. There is even a section on how to make your own buttons. I am drooling over the landscape photoes as well, it makes me so homesick. Thank you for such a wonderful book, in fact is is so gorgeous I have brought several as gifts for my friends> Knitting in Iceland is a national pastime.
