ISTQB had released a new syllabus for CTAL-TM Exam. This book covered the old syllabus. I have yet to take the Exam but I am a little uncomfortable when I compared the new syllabus and the content page of the book. I have briefly read Chapter 3 on Test Management being the core, it is well written and the depth of coverage is good. If your objective is to prepare for the Exam, use it with caution, and I guess you may need another book to supplement your learning.

I bought both available books from Rex Black promoted as guides to the ISTQB certification for advanced software testing. My main goal was to have an aid in the preparation of the advanced-level exams. While having extensive knowledge and lots of experience in software testing, I'm sure this book has contributed greatly to me passing the exams with good marks. The books brought corrections to my understanding and an overall improvement to several of my weak areas (that were examined during the ISTQB certification). The books use good case studies, exercises and contain pertinent exam questions after each block (with the answers in the book itself, not on some external site). I found it particular handy that the books follow the structure of the ISTQB syllabus.

Not only have these books proven to be valuable guides to the ISTQB exams, they have become references for my work; many of the real-life examples are relevant to my tasks as a Testing consultant, similar in addressing situation and needs that I encounter on the job on a daily basis.
