Terrible writing, the worst kind of quasi-intellectual nonsense that pollutes academia. This verbose shell of hollow writing is pathetically light on content, with language that dilutes concepts and methods in a misleadingly simplistic manner. To top it off, the book is poorly designed, concerned with unrelated aesthetics more than anything else. The whole book represents the worst kind of self indulgent design and writing. Designers deserve and are capable of so much more than this.

It's a real pity that a book utlimately aiming at "effective (...) visual communication" is so poorly designed. The main text is printed on dotted lines that ruin legibility, and at ~200 words/spread, it makes for a very choppy, discontinuous reading. Unfortunately, the disparate footnotes and diagrams don't help either. Skip this one!
