Hurry Hurry tell Tchaikovsky the news.Brian Setzer is giving the classical masters a lesson in rockabillity. If you are not a fan of classical music or at least you think you are not a fan, this album just might convert you. I have always had an appreciation for the classics but until now I did not have any in my collection. Brian and his Big Band have opened my eyes with his adaptations of twelve classical masterpieces. The man does it all and this venture into the days of ole is a thrilling journey into the minds of the Masters. Give Wolfgangs Big Night Out a listen and you just might open your mind to a whole new Genre.
The blending of traditional classic compositions (the best of, actually) with the Brian Setzer Orchestra's swinging sound is so initially odd, that it's hard to imagine - but the result is fantastic! It's as simple as it sounds, yet remarkably complex. I absolutely love it, but am still having a hard time wrapping my head around 'toe-tapping' and otherwise 'bouncing' to these well known classical standards. It's a very brave concept that deserves applause for even being attempted, but better still, it succeeds brilliantly. Highly recommended.
