Being a huge fan of Stargate SG-1 since the beginning, I had to purchase this season to add to my collection.

This show had a great idea to have a stargate that let's you travel through many dimensions and galaxies. The unusual storyline and cast is excellent! Whether you like sci-fi or not, this is fun to watch since it touches a lot of issues such as dealing with different kinds of nations and their beliefs, friendships, enemies, adventures and even comedy.

You will see the characters develop over time, the quirky unexpected humor, the use of an alien who doesn't fully understand human life on earth, the struggle of the oppressed, the lengths humans go in order to survive, politics and government bureaucracy.

This show is awsome on many different levels. On top of it all, they always keep the price very affordable. Money well spent.

It's a well known fact (to the Stargate obsessed that is) that Richard Dean Anderson has wanted to get off the show for a couple of seasons now. This is the first season that it really shows. This is not to say it isn't a good season, just not a great one.

If you're collecting all the seasons there's nothing so awful about this season that I would suggest skipping this set. However if you're looking to get into the show, it's not the season I would want you to start on.

It's not as funny, as sci fi or as captivating as any other season. On the plus side things did pick back up for season 9.

I'm a huge fan of Stargate and I do hold it to high standards so maybe I'm being a little harsh, but then again maybe I'm not.

The extras are what you'd expect from a Stargate DVD, nothing spectacular but I do enjoy the audio commentary, especially any done by Peter Deluise, he's always funny.

All in all, get it to keep the set together, not for the quality of the shows

It has a great combination of sci-fi and military mixed together which makes this a top 5 stars show in my book. I'm a huge fan of Stargate SG-1 (and now also Atlantis) and this season is just as good as all the others. Like any show, some episodes are not as good as others, but overall this is an excellent television series that should not have bad reviews. It's at his 10th season now... never before has a sci-fi gone so far! Sure I will be missing Richard Dean Anderson also, but hey, his replacement is really good, plus the rest of the cast are still as outstanding as before. Great cast, excellent storyline, long live Stargate!

Five Stars for the series!

Stargate is a awesome series, buy it you wont regret it, allthought for me the real Stargate ends with this Season as the 9 Season without Richard Dean Anderson is nothing for me anymore.

So why the 1 star?

Because the box you get the Season 8 is a really bad joke on the part of MGM. 7 Seasons long they released this in a very nice box with normal dvd cases in nice colors shemes and cool symbole designs and now the release the 8 Season in such a small paper sheet box that can break easily and come with small dvd cases. While it may be room sparing this box completly destroys the nice collection image of the Stargate Series in your room. You cant put it beside the other Seasons. If i go with a design then i go with it till to the end and dont change it so late.
