3.0 out of 5 stars Forced sequel
John Carpenter and Debra Hill were 'forced' in to making Halloween 2 in order to recoupe their losses (due to legal ramblings) from Part 1.

Gorier; more nudity; bad acting. You don't care for the characters here as you did in HALLOWEEN.

The whole 'brother and sister' thing was thought up just for the sequel and was not a pre-existing idea by John Carpenter with...

OK, later on that same halloween night in Haddonfield, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is whisked away to the hospital, only to be stalked by her demonic shadow, Michael Myers. Laurie is her old quivering, yet resourceful self. Michael is the unstoppable dreadnaut of death. Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasance) is still raving about Michael and stalking the evil stalker. The hospital setting is cool and adds to the claustrophobic feel of the movie. I love Laurie and Michael's "relationship". She's the magnet and he's the murderous iron shaving. They are drawn together by forces beyond them both, as the perfect killer / victim. I recommend Halloween 2, especially for it's excellent chase sequence between Laurie and Michael. Watch H2 as a double feature w/ the original...

5.0 out of 5 stars One Hell of A Follow Up To A Classic, July 13 2004

Halloween 2 for me nailed the formula right again..Yes the gore was a lot more evident and it was a bit less scary but there were very subtle things in this movie that made the storyline come together..We find out that Laurie is Michael's sister, Michael breaking into the school and writing "Samhain" on the board or desk, and the scenes in downtown Haddonfield are great where you don't see Michael but you see people walking around Haddonfield on Halloween night thru his eyes, not thinking anything of him because it's Halloween, the news reports are great and the little cut in of Night of Living Dead is cool as well..I highly recommend this as part of any horror movie weekend marathon you might have planned...

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the orginal but underatted., Jun 29 2004
This review is from: Halloween 2 (DVD)
Halloween 2 is an awsome horror film that's really scary, it has some great jumps and some suspense, but isn't much compared to the orginal.
Everone has always said this film isn't nearly as good as the orginal, that's true in every way shape or form, but if you think about it most films aren't as good as halloween, Halloween 2 is one of the best 80's slashers packed with scares and fun, it was also awsome how they pick up right at the point that Halloween left off, a must see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as frightening as the first, May 24 2004

the first halloween is incredible there is no doubt and this great sequel is a bit less in comparison. Yet, compared to other movies in the horror genre, its a 5. You know what i always say: "Nighttime is screamtime when Mike myers is around." Myers is the king of fright, mark my words. This sequel sustains the greatness of its original better than any in the horror genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars HALLOWEEN 2 EXCELENT!!!, Mar 22 2004

Halloween 2 was written again by john carpenter and debra hill, but this time directed by rick rosenthal (who in the future will direct the crappy halloween resurrection), the story is so original, and so decent, it starts just when the first one left us off...laurie strode is in haddonfield hospital under care of jimmy, and a few nurses...but michael myers is still alive and he goes to the hospital to try to kill his sister again...but dr.loomis could stop him...before he got finally his sister...
I love the movie it's so excelent and original!!! i think that is better than the first one but just for a little!!!...is great!!! the dvd is not very good...but...the movie is great!!
the extras includes..."production notes", "trailers", "filmographies", "subtitles", etc...

THE STORY: 5/5
ACTING: 4.5/5
DIRECTION: 4/5
GORE: 4.8/5
DVD: 3/5

5.0 out of 5 stars MICHAEL MYERS IS STILL OUT THERE, Jan 18 2004
HALLOWEEN II IS A GREAT SEQUEL, FOR SO MANY REASONS. THE FIRST BEING THAT IT IS A GENUINE SEQUEL, BRINGING BACK PLEASENCE, CURTIS, CYPHERS. THE MUSIC IS EXCELLENT, THE ATMOSPHERE IS CHILLING AND THE MURDERS ARE DOUBLED AND FAR GORIER ( IF THAT'S THE KIND OF THING YOU LIKE ).
WHETHER IT IS IN THE DARKENED HOSPITAL WITH MYERS KILLING OFF EVERYONE IN HIS WAKE TO GET A LAURIE, OR WITH THE FRANTIC LOOMIS SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW, THE MOVIE DELIVERS.
AND JUST FOR THE RECORD, MYERS DIES IN THIS ONE. I DON'T KNOW WHO THE IMPOSTER IS IN PARTS 4,5,6,7,8 AND EVENYUALLY 9, BUT IT AIN'T JOHN CARPENTER'S MICHAEL MYERS.

3.0 out of 5 stars Forced sequel, April 20 2005

John Carpenter and Debra Hill were 'forced' in to making Halloween 2 in order to recoupe their losses (due to legal ramblings) from Part 1.

Gorier; more nudity; bad acting. You don't care for the characters here as you did in HALLOWEEN.

The whole 'brother and sister' thing was thought up just for the sequel and was not a pre-existing idea by John Carpenter with the design for making a sequel; there was never a desire nor a plan to make a sequel. (This of course makes you wonder: What exactly was the motive behind Michael Myers's obsession with Laurie Strode in HALLOWEEN?)

Some scary moments, but they lack the 'creepiness' of HALLOWEEN. And Michael Myers here isn't as 'human' which, (for me anyway), makes him less frightening (monsters don't scare me).

Cool though how they pick up the story on the same night, right when HALLOWEEN ended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm getting sick of those slasher fans, July 9 2004
By
Michael (Bogart, Georgia United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Halloween 2 (DVD)
I'm a dork I love old Sci-fi movies and I love the work of John Carpenter. I'm getting sick of those slasher fans talking trash about every Halloween movie the only bad one to me is Resurection. Those people don't like movies the only reason those people see it because deth scenes and gore and all that the Halloween movies never have been and never wiil be slasher movies they where doing somthing stylish and fresh and unique with it and all those slasher fans don't see that and they don't care They do the same thing on Haloween 5 and Halloween The Curse of Micchael Myers They're not looking at it right. I never liked Friday The 13th because they're not inspiring they're not unique and stylish and they keep repeating the same thing in every sequel. I'll stick to John Carpenter's Escape From New York and The Thing and those amazing movies I'll stick to Halloween as well. I love this picture It's just as amasing as the original just as scary just as stylish and suspenseful there is no better halloween movie they're all incredible except for Resurection that's the one people should be trasing about. I love movies they're my life I wanna be a director someday but in the mean time I'll just sit In my room and do nothig but watch movies. This is a amazing movie never gets old It's a great story and I relate to the Laurie Strode because she's a nerd like me I feel sorry for her becuse her who's whole life is in pain because this crazy guy won't stop trying to kill her. It makes me cry when she screams out help me but nobody hears her and when she screams Michael Stop It's just kills me I don't have a crszy guy following me around but I am a nerd like her. I love this picture and people who hate it I'm not saying you have to but watch it again and look at it right You'll love it and if you haven't seen it or Halloween's 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, maybe H20 see them they're unlike anything else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Scariest Halloween film!, Jun 17 2004
By

This review is from: Halloween 2 (DVD)
Although Halloween 2 isn't as *good* a film as the first, and isn't as well made or didn't even have as much thought put into it, it's scarier than the first and more entertaining. Most people would say that this is the best of all the sequels, but I would say Halloween 4 is, but this one is still good. The whole hospital setting is very creepy, and so is the new, re-vamped music. I definelty reccomend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Halloween II: A Pretty Good Sequel, Jun 13 2004
By
Rochelle A. DeLancey (West Leechburg, PA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Halloween 2 (DVD)
Halloween II picks up precisely where its predecesor left off. "The Shape" is still stalking the poor baby sitter Laurie Strode. Laurie is soon taken to the hospital while Michael Myers is believed to have burned to death in an auto accident. However, it was merely an innocent pedestrian in a costume and now the real Michael Myers has found out where his prey is. This movie goes along okay. There are various killings at the hospital until it seems like Laurie is the only one left. When all hope seems lost, Dr. Loomis comes to Laurie's aid and soon he and Michael are caught in an explosion in one of the hospital operating rooms. You also learn some interesting facts about the "Myers Family."

This movie was overall pretty good. I was very sorry to hear that John Carpenter didn't direct the movie but was glad that he was involved with it. One thing I didn't like about the movie was the actor playing Michael Myers. He looked much more different than Nick Castle in the original. I don't recommend that you see this movie without seeing the first.
