This film is the very definition of 'patchy'. It comes across like the directors responsible were just filling in free time between their real movies - which is probably true. Only Rodriquez's piece has any real merit.

Tim Roth plays the bellboy who is the link between all the stories and subsequently the main character. I think someone should have slapped him and told him to sort his act out. I love Tim Roth usually but here he was just way too over-the-top. If he had exercised a little bit of restraint, the whole film could have been improved. Instead, his overly exaggerated mannerisms really began to test my patience.Starting with "The Missing Ingredient" by Allison Anders is peculiar to say the least. Now peculiar is a good thing in my book, but after promising to be amusing this just goes nowhere. It's just bizarre.

"The Wrong Man" by Alexandre Rockwell unfortunately doesn't have the essentials to sustain it's segment. I think this is the piece most affected by Roth's overtly comic acting. If he had played it straight, maybe, just maybe, this situation might have come out alright. But it lacked any of the requisite tension or nervous comedy required. Like the first story, it just comes out ridiculous.

"The Misbehaviors" from Robert Rodriquez is the real standout. If I didn't know better I would have guessed it was by the Coen brothers - which is a compliment to Rodriquez - there are obvious parallels to Barton Fink. The climax is a simply superb culmination of black comedy and stylish camerawork. Antonio Banderas is terrific as the father of the two little 'misbehaviors'.

"The Man from Hollywood," while better than the first two stories, is probably the most disappointing, only because it's from Quentin Tarantino who I expected more from. He takes the lead role himself here. Now Quentin gets a lot of knocks for his acting, but I find that when he plays obnoxious (like in Pulp Fiction) he is fine, that's what he plays here, and he's fine. The problem is, somewhat surprisingly, in the script. The whole thing is a purposely long winded set-up for a quick punch line at the end. That's fine, but the set up is just too inconsistent. At times it's entertaining, at other times it is just ludicrous, which typifies too much of this whole film.

I'd give it 3.5 stars on the whole, mostly on the strength of "The Misbehaviors" story alone. Other then that it's a decent film.

In perfect condition, however this version of the Movie has absolutely no special features, no languages selection and practically no subtitle options as well, basic as basic can get.

i love this movie i thought it was quite enjoyable.Tim Roth cracks me up when i watched this(his performance reminded me a lot of charlie chaplin) especially when he just walks and talks its quite strange but it was a great movie that i think any tarintino viewer would enjoy.

With 4 directors and a cast of over 20 actors {all talented}, this movie was bound to flop. Antonio Banderez makes a great appearance and Madonna and Quentin Terentino {and} Bruce Willis were good too. The script seems confusing, the directors all have completely different views and styles, so it's confusing. But it is still funny, the bellhopper was excellent, really funny guy. Madonna, who was only in the first fifteen minutes, was blamed for the badness of the movie, stop hating just because she's one of the only people in this movie who don't cuss up a storm and stay fresh and to the point! And as for Quentin, it was a nice cameo, but you're a lot better behind the camera...

Only the most die-hard Tim Roth fans will want to sit through this whole movie. Too bad the last two segments (I think they're the last two, anyway) are the only ones even remotely worth watching; that means you have to sit through the first two to get to them. Thank God for fast-forward!
The one with Madonna in it is about witches, and the only thing you can say about it is that it makes witches look like the most boring possible subject matter in the universe. Plus it stars Madonna. 'Nuff said.
Then there's one about a wife and her husband, with one of them tied to a chair or something. This one was so bad, I can't even remember anything else about it. And I only watched it three days ago! What does that tell you?
Thankfully, just when you're begging for someone to shut it off, along comes the third segment, a hilarious little film about two naughty children and the bellhop (Roth, who appears in each segment) who is bribed to keep an eye on them. When the source of the mysterious odor in the room is discovered, Roth's reaction almost justifies the whole movie's existence. I was still laughing hours later.
The last segment, by spoiled Hollywood wonderchild Quentin Tarantino, is okay. It has his trademark crackling dialogue (of course), and Q.T. has some fun with his own image. But too bad the entire segment itself is just one long, sick, unfunny joke.
Making this movie was not a very good idea, and the results were predictably foul. Even the always-enjoyable Roth seems out of place and you kind of feel sorry for him. But at least the "Misbehavers" segment, all by itself, redeems the experience. Almost.

This film has Tim Roth as a novice Bellboy getting caught up in the absurd goings on at 4 different hotel rooms, with each sequence having a different director. Quentin Tarantino acts in and directs the last sequence, which is really the least amusing. Overall the acting is good, with many small roles by actors/actresses such as Madonna, Jennifer Beals, Lili Taylor, Ione Skye, Bruce Willis, Marisa Tomei, Kathy Griffin, and Antonio Banderas. The best part is directed by Robert Rodriguez, and has Banderas as the father of two kids who are involved in comic adventures (this also foreshadows Rodriguez's development of the Spy Kids films). There are no extras on the DVD and the first sequence with the wiccans is a bit creepy in retrospect since they are involved in Diana goddess worship in a film made before Princess Di was killed. Of course, the last sequence is pretty dark for a comedy, so this film is really a mixed bag.

"Four Rooms" is a film written and directed by four people including Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino,the other names are unimportant,however this is the first movie by Quentin Tarantino I really didn't like.The only reason I gave it three stars is because it was semi entertaining.The story mostly focuses on Tarantino favorite Tim Roth as Ted the bellhop. and his adventures in the hotel he works in.They include some of the stupidest crap in movie history.Consider this movie is co-written by the same man that wrote "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill"
this movie is crap.Even it was by an up and coming new guy it sucks.It has witches,victims of spousle abuse.It's good this movie was released a long time ago,because if he would've released this after "Pulp Fiction" he would've ruined his career.

I own this movie and it one of the funniest movies i have. Tim Roth gives a perfect overexaggerated performance. Awesome cast, great directors.

'Four Rooms' is a pointless movie that will waste almost two hours of your life. A few moments are funny, but they are not worth the time and energy. Stay away from it as far as possible.

Four Rooms. Not all the rooms are worth watching - but 2 are simply fantastic!
The witch coven is great. Madonna looks just plain sexy!
Antonia Banderas is hilarious in his room, probably my favorite of the 4 sequences.
It's like 4 different movies in one...definately worth checking out!
