Esta revision no tiene nada que ver con la gloriosa obra de Garcia Marquez ni con su edicion presente, anexos, introduccion, etc. Simplemente es que el libro en si no parece haber sido "nuevo" realmente, como lo clamaba su publicidad. Pude leermelo sin reparar en menores nimiedades ( pese a que ciertos rasgunos de la pasta ya me habian confirmado que era un articulo usado) hasta que llegue a los ultimos capitulos donde alrededor de 90 paginas se empezaron a despegar del empastado. Y pues, considere justo advertir que cualquier compra que se le haga a este vendedor sea cautelosamente revisada o evitada mas bien, puesto que infringe en la eticas de ofrecer un producto mal descrito y encima no en tan buen estado como para compensarlo

This is a great book, but this edition is full of footnotes. The problem with the footnotes is that whomever added them, thinks the reader is too stupid to understand what is written there. To any other edition (eg Editorial Diana, available here in Amazon too) I give five huge stars. Do yourself a favor and also get "El Otoño del Patriarca" and "La increíble y triste Historia de la cándida Eréndira y de su abuela desalmada".

Decir que es la mejor novela de García Márquez es poner las otras en un nivel inferior. Un auténtico ejercicio de realismo mágico, mezclado con una particular (aunque no por eso menos cierta) visión de la vida actual en latinoamérica. Desde el nacimiento hasta la muerte de una nación (llamémosle pueblo) llamada Macondo, con las histórias de esa familia, los Buendia, los de toda la vida, con sus idas y venidas, pero siempre allí. Un personaje: Melquíades.

I have read Cien Anos before and loved it. However, this edition provided me with information that I completely missed from my first reading. There are way too many details in the story and the footnotes pointed out all of them. Some, I agree, are less important, but most of them help the reader understand the complex and fascinating matrix of lives of this fantastic book.

I ordered this book from Amazon.com because I wanted to re-read this Spanish language masterpiece. But this specific version of 100 Años de Soledad is more of a textbook, and it contains really irritating footnotes (on every page), which damage the natural rythm of the book and make reading it a disturbing experience. By all means read 100 Años de Soledad. But get a version taht contains the pure Garcia Marquez' text withou footnotes, unless you need it for a school project or something like that.

Hola, yo no leo mucho.

No leo muchos libros, pero de vez en cuando alguno cae sobre mis manos, y lo empiezo a leer. En este caso sabía que este era un gran libro pero no es hasta que uno empieza a pasar las hojas apasionadamente, desde la primera hasta la última, cuando uno se da cuenta ante lo que está. He disfrutado muchísimo con este libro y siento como si no fuera yo el mismo que empezara a leer el libro hace unos días.

Lean este libro, gócenlo, padézcanlo... es una maravilla.

es simplemente un libro bueno y sólido, no hay porque negarlo, pero no es la gran obra maestra del siglo como muchos pretenden nombrarlo.... es basicamente entretenido y con muchas imagenes evocativas que te submergen en un mundo exagerado pero vivible. Si tienes doce años y quieres convencerte de que leer es entretenido lee esto. Si tienes 25 años y nunca has leído un libro en tu vida y te da verguenza, lee esto. Lo mas probable es que te guste y te sientas bien contigo mismo. Literatura para turistas fascinados con realidades multicolores que existen en el papel y nada más. Gabo es el novel de los que no conocen Latinoamerica, pero aún asi se le quiere.

This wonderful novel can be overwhelming if you are not used to García Márquez narrative, but this annotated edition is very helpful. It brings the genealogical tree of the Buendías and insightful comments on the structure of the story and the role played by its various elements and themes (e.g. time, ice, mirrors). I would recommend this edition to anyone who not only wants to read the novel but also looks for a more elaborate understanding.

Este libro es unos de los mas buenos que he leido en mi vida. Yo, personalmente, no lo trate de analisar como muchas personas que se rompen la cabeza tratando de sacar significado, aunque si aprendi unas cosas y teorias e ideas del tiempo. Lean este libro. Es muy divertido.

I'm not the smartest man on the block, but I consider myself to be fairly well-read. Usually, when I finish a novel I think about it for a brief while and then look for my next book to read.
CIEN ANOS DE SOLEDAD was a novel that when I finished reading it (I read it in Spanish) I automatically began with page one.
It is one of the most enthralling, awe-inspiring novels that I've ever read. Garcia Márquez es un genio.
READ THIS NOVEL! (You may even want to read it twice).
