5.0 out of 5 stars Southernplaylisticlassichip-hop
Before Andre 3000 and Big Boi were world-famous multi-platinum recording artists, they were a couple of teenagers making Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. This was before they were taking listeners on journeys of the mind with "Aquemini" and even before their UFO sounds of "ATLiens". No, they were just another couple of rappers, rhymin' about smokin' weed, ridin' in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD
Outkast, comprised of Big Boi and Dre, is truly a talented group. This album, while still evidencing signs of a mature lifestyle, remains rather 'gangsta.' I like the fact that Outkast has changed so much and yet still remains fresh and accessible no matter what their form.

5.0 out of 5 stars Downsouth's first Classic Album,
Ce commentaire est de: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Audio CD)Outkast's debut album is monumental. The south never had such talented mc's. Dre and Big Boi are as good of a team as any group ever assembled. Every track on this CD is fire and i don't care what coast you are from....Outkast is dope...
4.0 out of 5 stars Definetly their best.,
Ce commentaire est de: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Audio CD)Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik is without a doubt OutKast's best album for a couple reasons.
1)It has maybe the simplist but best beats they have used.
2)Great for listening to in your car, nice bass and mood-setting.
Overall, if you are someone who looks for more deeper music, something with more meaning, this might not be right for you. Altough this album probably has the best lyrics, with the most meaning, they've never really had a lot of meaning behind their work. On the other hand, if you are someone who more likes to just listen to the music and not necesarly feel it, this is perfect for you.
5.0 out of 5 stars Something different, Something Very Good,
Ce commentaire est de: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Audio CD)OutKast comes out with their debut that is true to their name. This is not the type of album heard from other artists. All traditional rap formulas and songs styles to get on the radio are thrown out the window as Andre and Big Boi bring music that is intended to satisfy fans wanting music from unexplored territories. This makes for a classic and an unbelievably enjoyable album.
"Myintrotoletuknow" is a fast paced hardcore song that proves OutKast is not here to play into the mainstream stereotypes of hip-hop. "Ain't No Thang" is one of the funkiest beats ever made and uses a now infamous hook: "Ain't no thang but a chicken wing...". "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" is my favorite OutKast song of all-time as it is a smooth southern beat using a nice mixture of strings and wind intruments in the background. The hook is amazing as this song is literally music to your ears. "Player's Ball" shows off the P-Funk influence with a great song conjuring up images of old-school singing and creating music for fun, rather than money. On "Funky Ride" is where this album really departs into uncharted waters with a great carefree singing song. "Git Up, Git Out" features the Goodie Mob and is one of the better lyrical messages on the album. Cee-Lo, as usual, uses his time well and provides a great verse. "Hootie Hoo" is a memorable song as it features a beat that sounds as if it is just ready to explode and will get you saying "Big Boi's on my left, Andre on my right". "D.E.E.P." is a real nice song as Andre and Big Boi discuss stereotypes.
All hip-hop fans should own this one as it is the classic debut from one of hip-hop's greatest groups (my favorite). OutKast brings an album that is original not only in its genre, but moves from song to song well with varying styles.
5.0 out of 5 stars PHat 2 the last drop,
Ce commentaire est de: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Audio CD)An excellent display of hip hop, funk ,and soul all meshed into one. A still young Outkast, comes hard with funky beats and raw rhymes. A must for all you Stankonia fans,do ya' homework!
5.0 out of 5 stars Southern-fried funk an' hip-hop; truly a classic album.,
Ce commentaire est de: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Audio CD)This is for any readers out there who have actually NEVER heard this, and are wondering what the big deal 'bout these two boys are. Remember the first time you heard Parliament-Funkadelic or the Ohio Players? Or how 'bout Curtis Mayfield or Sly and the Family Stone? Try an' remember those chills that went down your spine, and that anxious and uninhibited excitement that you got all up in 'yo stomach, that made you jus' wanna jump up an' shout along with the singers. As if their genius could actually be somethin' that belonged only to you. Alright, now that I got you in the right state of mind, this right here is the exact kind of ingenious, straight-up dirty funk, creativity, and intelligence that music is missing, not just hip-hop, MUSIC itself, is missing nowadays.
There's something magical and timeless 'bout this music presented here, just like every other OutKast album. It possesses a certain quality that can only be attributed to musicianship, personality, and talent. Big Boi and Dre are probably the best duo in hip-hop, they jus' got a brotherly chemistry about them, an' they pass the mike with such comfortability and ease. An' they voices, them deep southern drawls, just perfectly compliment each other. What makes them so much better than the rest though, is that the lyrics they spit atcha are clever, inspired, smart, and TRULY GHETTOFIED all at the same time. Listen to the laid-back, southern-fried funk on 'Player's Ball' or the title track, an' tell me it's not classic material, to say the least. Check the smooth, blowed-out melodies on 'Crumblin' Erb' an' tell me it don't make you jus' wanna chill an' forget all your troubles wit' some space boogie. Then you got the slow-motion slickness of 'Funky Ride', probably my favorite track, some great hypnotic harmonizing on it, makes me wanna hop in my Neon, pretend its an ol' '64 Cadillac and, ah, ah-hah-hah, hah-hah, well, anyways, you get the picture. Now peep the dark, mid-tempo beat-heavy funk on 'Git Up, Git Out'. I swear I was convinced my mom had ghost-written this song for OutKast and dedicated it to me (I was a lazy fool in high school). This album is jus' so easy to listen to, and is one of the maybe five full hip-hop albums that I NEVER get tired of. Dead up.
The fact is, nowadays, rappers have lost that art of creativity and lyricism, because they're either more worried about representing how hard they are, or maybe the artform has jus' lost the ART part of it altogether. There are a few exceptions, Outkast bein' one of them, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, the Roots, tha Dogg Pound and the late 2Pac will always be the realest to ever touch the microphone to me, but as long as there are still those select few, hip-hop will continue to thrive. It's the most direct and raw form of expression in all of music, but its just not getting used to its full potential enough. Even if some of those aforementioned artists don't get the recognition now, in the years to come, they WILL. History tends to look less at what was popular and more at what was significant and, well, GOOD. Buy this album, listen to it, feel it, become a part of it, then do the same with every subsequent OutKast album. They'll alter your perception. And for the better.
5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best hip hop cd's ever by one of the best duos,
Ce commentaire est de: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Audio CD)this cd is extremely underratedand it is one of the best debuts ever. this was outkasts' intro to the world and is by far the souths' best hip hop cd ever made. the beats are superb and the lyrics are just as good. peep myintrotoletuknow, call o da wild, players ball, clamin true, crumblin erb, hootie hoo, and the title cut. this disc is different than kasts' newer work, its more of their pimpin side before they got more funky. i like all of outkasts' work but this is definitely my favorite. dont sleep on this album it is a pure classic.
5.0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST,
Ce commentaire est de: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Audio CD)OUTKAST is my all time favorite rap artist PERIOD. Im not talking group, Im talking rap artist before Jay Z & the rest. I would go buy an Outkast CD before any other artist out there. This one was my 1st taste of Southern Rap. I still listen to this joint even though its almost a decade years old. "Southernplayalistic", "Myintroletuknow", "Crumblin Erb", "Playas Ball", and "Aint No Thing" those have the best beats along with lyrics.
