This album is so good! It fits any mood and can cheer you up anytime. An oddball, though, it's hard to put a 'genre' on this. But it's great. Don't let the cover fool you- the music is great. It's a bit of a spoof on itself, but the tunes are great and there's even some soul in the lyrics. I find it a great album to drive around to, it just makes you feel good.

This album is a lot of fun, contains a lot of good bar tunes, and has a great range of songs that can pick someone up or put them down. All in all, a tremendous album. I definitely recommend their following (and sadly final) album Bottle & Fresh Horses.

The Refreshments kick butt! Total road trip, steering wheel spanking tunes! FFBB is by far the best!

I remember watching these guys live all the time at hayden square in downtown tempe,az. This album remains in my top 5 after all these years.

All I knew about this band was that they did the theme to "King of the Hill." A great song for sure, but maybe not a great indicator on how good an album might be. Well, I am pleased to say that this album delivers on every song. One of my favorite albums of the last ten years. With songs like "Suckerpunch" and "Girly" you can't go wrong. Perfect!

I have listened to this cd no less than 500 times. Reminds me of several roadtrips taken from Arizona down to mexico. This is sort of a soundtrack to 4 years of my life. Songs like Mekong, Mexico, Interstate,Banditos and Nada will give you a taste of the southwest experience. Brilliant songwriting that is arranged perfectly. This disc needs to be played from start to finish. It's a shame the group has moved on.

A must own for any TRUE rock fan. Great guitar and great lyrics, what more is there.

I'm buying this CD again. My first one is used up. My music collection includes The Beatles, the Stones, Zeppelin and a wide variety of hall of fame recordings...but this is my favorite. This CD is perfect for long drives, almost forcing you to sing out loud with the songs. It's upbeat, super music and great lyrics, and is one of the best CDs that most people have never heard.
Their follow up, "The Bottle and Fresh Horses" is also a top notch effort.

To me, this album stands out as having a classic "American" sound. It is simple, catchy rock with good lyrics and singable melodies. It is definitely one I bring on every road trip to keep me going. Not every song on this album is peppy per se, but it is still good singable tunes. Lyrically, the subject matter is not always peppy either but some how the music is so good that it always makes me happy. The must-hear tracks on this album are, "Down Together" which is a funny sort of love song, "Mekong" which is probably the best track on this cd, and "Banditos" which is a humorous outlaw song and the perfect roadtrip song.

Every single track is golden on this Cd. It is great riffs with a mexican influence, and still to this day, it is my favorite CD to listen to out my collection of 400+ CDs. If you like good music, good lyrics, and riveting riffs, you will love this. It is a must have...enjoy!
