Bouncy, romantic Rock N Roll!,
By CRAIG BISHOP (Appleton, Wisconsin United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grease II (Audio CD)
The music in GREASE 2 is addictive. The soundtrack is full of catchy tunes that stay with you long after the film ends. The first track, BACK TO SCHOOL AGAIN, performed by the FOUR TOPS, is one of the best opening songs to a movie musical in recent decades. You just feel so cool as it jams along alternating between being sad summer's over, but happy to see your friends again.SCORE TONIGHT, based around an all American bowling alley is a great group number, showcasing Lorna Luft's vocal talents. I sing it my mind when I've gone bowling and actually get more strikes! COOL RIDER is sung by Michelle Pfeiffer and she really belts it out! People complain about her not having the vocal range of Olivia Newton John. WHO CARES? It's a kick . . . song that is tough and powerful. This is a girl who knows what she wants! GIRL FOR ALL SEASONS is a harmless song, something out of a DORIS DAY musical! DO IT FOR OUR COUNTRY is very funny although the soundtrack should have had the boy/girl duet as in the film. Apparently she couldn't make it to the recording session! WHO'S THAT GUY was mysterious, and the rythmic base line in the back is very cool. PROWLIN was the TBirds big number and it works great! Goofy fun because they think the're so great. Singing about hot chicks. REPRODUCTION was comic genius! Anyone who didn't laugh has NO sense of humor! Sex education at its best. I thought TAB HUNTER not quite hitting the high notes was very funny and worked well. CHARADES is a very under appreciated love ballad sung by Maxwell Caulfield about his secret identity dilemma. As a 16 year old gay male in 1982, I found the lyrics of a painful duality very touching. Listen closely to the words. Caulfield sings with passion. LOVE WILL TURN BACK HANDS OF TIME was a duet with Michelle and Maxwell and although very lightweight, still romantic and fun. ROCK A HULA LUAU was the end of the year number and has lots of energy!I love that that most of the songs included characters names as it made it more personal to the film. WE'LL BE TOGETHER is a beautiful, slower romantic last track that wraps up the album. Leaves you feeling good and isn't that what music in a musical comedy are all about?

This movie was 10 times better than the first, the cast was even better and the music was out of this world. It remains one of my all time fave soundtracks. The only problem I can say is all the songs in the movie are not on the soundtrack. But other than that movie and music is killer. Plus Michelle is so hot!!!!!!!!!!

Grease II was amazing! The songs are amazing too! Those who didn't like it have no taste! It is just as good as Grease I! I love Michelle's character in it - she does a great job! I love the song "Cool Rider" the most as well as four other songs. I grew up seeing this movie, so I have nothing but love for the movie and soundtrack! Great work to the producers!

I absolutely loved the movie "Grease 2" so when I heard the CD was available, I went ahead and bought it. All of the songs from the movie are of course there, sung by the stars. Before seeing the movie or listening to the CD, I didn't know that Michelle Pheiffer could sing! I'm glad I was wrong though. If you have the movie, or have seen it, then get this CD. You'll feel as though you're watching the movie all over again. Plus, it is just fun to listen to and sing along to!

The original "Grease" with Olivia-Newton John and John Travolta had some of the best songs in movie-musicals and most memorable characters, not to mention a successful soundtrack, but they slipped up on the second set of songs, though there are a few stand out tracks.Michelle Pfieffer has a great voice, putting it to work on what are easily the best songs on the CD "Cool Rider" and "Love Will Turn Back The Hands Of Time." Other memorable tracks are "Reproduction" and "Girl for All Seasons." The other songs were boring, corny or cleshaed. If for nothing else, buy the soundtrack or movie for "Cool Rider." Or you could just pick up the original. You're getting more for your money, anyways. ( C- )

Beautiful Movie and Sountrack!,

First of all I like Grease 2 better than the oringial film. Secondally the sountrack is perfect for that music in San Fransico Louis's real name is Peter Frachette. I got the sountrack just yesterday at Border's since the other stores said it was more popular than the oringal film's soundtrack! Why? Most likely because the cast of the oringial film well the Pink Ladies too old and the T-Birds way to old! Still Patricia Birch and the casting director of the second film picked out superb actors that were actually teens. Not only is the sountrack perfect but Judy Garland's daughter Lorna Luft is on it! My fave songs are: Do It For Our Country, Reproduction, finally Who's That Guy??? You got to let the music take it away listen and observe you can look at Reproduction in two ways one way it is edcautional in a sexual matter still the other way is it can be inappropiate at very little points! There are two songs that have to do with sex are Do It For Our Country and of course Reproduction.I love Peter Frachette his voice sounds like a angel in a heavenly choir you can here him in his song Do It For Our Country, We'll Be Together or you can hear his solo in Reproduction (Cause he had the last one). My point being some songs are edcuational, romantic, upbeat,or just plain fun! I love Leif Green when he was singing his solo's in Who's That Guy? If you notice that is the only song that he has two solo's in or any solo's. Watch the movie , buy the sountrack just got three steps play, listen, and observe! Buy.

Grease 2 not that bad,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grease II (Audio CD)
First off, Grease 2 is NOT THE BEST SOUNDTRACK in the whole world (see FOOTLOOSE for that) but it is not as bad as Jon (the guy a few reviews below mine) makes it out to be. Michelle Pfieffer has an amazing voice on Cool Rider (even in 1982) as does Adrian Zmed in Score Tonight. Of course Pfieffer sounded better in Fabulous Baker Boys, she was crooning on a piano wearing a sultry sequins gown. (Are you sure you were LISTENING to her in the movie?) Cool Rider is one of the best songs from a cheesy movie I have heard. It's awesome to exercise to for it's fast pace. Reproduction is hysterical and the lyrics were pretty well thought out and put to a catchy tune. Score Tonight is also another one of those songs that is easy to like. I had the (pleasure?) of meeting Adrian Zmed a few years ago and told him that I thought his voice was terrific. He was extremely appreciative and humble about it. You can tell that he is not noticed for that very much. Take the soundtrack for what it is, an 80's Album from an 80's Movie in a time where there was no MAJOR type of music to be liked...all was good.

Incredible CD!,

First, I love this movie better than the first! But, onto the CD. Almost all songs are perfect. There are a few that drag, such as "Prowlin", "Charades", and "Rock-a-Hula-Luau", but the rest are either very upbeat or melodicaly soothing. You will find, however, many sexual references in this CD. I guess Grease 2 felt that they needed to match the inappropriateness of the first one. To match it, Grease 2 has 2 songs strictly for that purpose. "Do It For Our Country" can be taken two ways, as those who have seen the movie know. It takes place between a boy and girl, so while the girl is thinking of serving the US militarily, the boy is not singing exactly about that. The song "Reproduction" is the most inappropriate. It is somewhat, however, educational, and if a few words can be overlooked, the photosynthesis process of a flower is explained quite simply. However, the song still isn't very "family-like". In almost every other song is a reference like that. Still, it is one of the best soundtracks I own! Very enjoyable, and many songs will become your favorite all at once!
