5.0 out of 5 stars This release a masterpiece..., April 30 2004

This is easily Ten Foot Pole's best cd - in fact as far as releases from the entire early to min 90's So Cal releases - this is right up there with the very best (others include 'And out come the wolves', 'Smash' and 'Stranger than Fiction'). Hell what am I talking about, it's in my top 10 albums ever.

Scott is an absolutely amazing vocalist, and on this cd the band are at their tightest - except maybe the split cd with the Satanic surfers. The melodies, background vocals, lead guitar, drums are all perfect. This is one of the few cd's from my past that I still love - and I have over 100 "pop punk" releases haunting me... I can still put this on, close my eyes, and go to a better place. An awesome album to think to, drive to, fall asleep to, get drunk to - and the list goes on.

To the clown that claimed their later albums are better - mate, you need to clean the wax out of your ears. I suppose you think that Offspring's album 'Ixnay on the Hombre' is better than 'Smash'. Rev is an album that defines Epitaph - well before they ventured out - but good on them. It is the essence of true melodic punk rock, strong lyricism, and well crafted songs. It is an album that is timeless. This is a cd that no true music fan (or punk rocker) would burn - you must own this one. Gold. Their album after Rev, 'Unleashed' is really good too, but Rev owns that by far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guys, great album, April 3 2004
This review is from: Rev (Audio CD)
My friends, I have seen the glory of heaven. These guys are so amazing, in person and on a track. They truly have the talent that so many record-deal toting morons don't. I'm a friend of the band, so when they told me they were working on a new album, I was way hyped. Giggling and hopping around like a retarded 6 year old is usually not my first reaction, but let's just say I made an exception. You did not disappoint my friends, and I can honestly say that this album is Ten Foot Pole perfection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Ten foot pole CD, Jun 1 2003
This review is from: Rev (Audio CD)
This is the best Ten foot pole cd ever made. After Scott left to play in the Major Leauges the band went to [pieces]. I would NOT recommend any of there other cd's. As for this one, it is a classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ten Foot Pole -- the best of the 90's, Jan 14 2003

"Rev" is an incredible release. It repesents the pinnacle achievement by bands in the 90's punk revival genre. Ask anyone who is serious about punk music, TFP rev is probably many people's pick for greatest punk ablum of an entire genre -- it certainly is my favorite. Every song on this CD is excellent, fast, straight ahead punchy punk-rock the way it was meant to be played. Scott Radinsky is easily the most talented singer in punk music today. Unfortunately (for TFP) if you want to check him out now, you need to listen to Pulley. After this album, Scott left the band, and eveyone is now annoyed by Dennis' nasaly voice. Great for TFP for making such an awesome CD, easily outshining any of thier newer releases. Don't even bother buying them. This CD wasn't thier first release though, if you can find "Swill" anywhere, pick it up as well as this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the rest, Dec 24 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Rev (Audio CD)
Ten Foot Pole's a great band, but this, their first CD, is simply not as good as the rest. For starters, their old singer Scott is NOTHING compared to Dennis (who wrote most of the lyrics). His monotone singing really puts a damper on their excellent music and lyrics. And songs like Old Man (which is a high point on he album) are the very essence of Ten Foot Pole's great storytelling effect. Some other great songs include: World's Best Dad, Never Look Back, and Closer to Gray. While this CD is still better than most punk acts, Unleashed and Insider are way better and Dennis's voice is preferred over Scott's, it's a good thing he went off to play baseball and quit stifling the band. Also, check out their new album, Bad Mother Trucker.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute MUST HAVE for any punk fan, April 24 2002

If I could give this album ten stars, I would. This is simply an amazing effort by one of the best west coast punk bands. After buying 'Rev', I just could not stop listening to it. The instrumentation, energy, and song writing is at a level that most bands do not reach until their forth or fifth record, and this was ten foot pole's FIRST major label release!! Almost every song has been stuck in my head at one time or another, and I never get tired of them. An unfortunate blotch on the whole presentation is the song "old man", which has sort of an off-beat ska feeling to it. It's not horrible, but it just doesn't fit the style of the rest of the album (or TFP for that matter), so I always end up skipping it. The vocals are awesome, because as most people know, Scott is one of the most talented singers of our time, period. And he's not even a full time musician!! If there is a downside to this album, it's that you realize how much Ten Foot Pole has LOST through the exit of Scott, and how their new recordings just can't compare. In a nutshell, this is the absolute BEST that they have to offer. Let me put it this way:If you had to choose just one TFP album, this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD of all time, Jan 27 2001

This is the best CD of all time, hands down. No matter how many times you listen to My Wall, it still leaves me in a state of disbelief of how talented these guys are. Correction, were. Scott Radinsky was a great singer. Dennis is good, but he pales in comparison to Scott. If you buy one CD, buy this one. It's a great introduction to TFP and the whole punk genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real good., May 26 2000

in my opinion, TFP is the greatest punk band (or at least one of them.) Rev shows their up and coming melodic style and was their best selling album. Ever. If you listen to Fade Away, you can see where Osker got their style. This album shows Tony on drums for his first TFP album, and he does a great job. This album shows that TFP keeps their style and keeps the fans punking for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Punk Rock., Feb 10 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Rev (Audio CD)
I don't know about the last two albums by these guys (Insider and Unleashed) but Rev is an incredible CD. Scott sings incredible vocals, with fast guitaring and drums and music that is both straight up punk, with a melodic edge. I seriously recommend it.
