5.0 out of 5 stars le meilleur , année après année

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok I guess
Not quite what I imagined but still an ok listen.
I'm gonna try for some of their 80's compositions next.

I discovered this record when I was [quite young]...I'd seen Risky Business, which they did the music for, and my older brother had brought home a nicely transfered vinyl-to-metal tape recording of TD's music from college. On that tape's 1st side was Tangram and on side 2 - Force Majeure.
I heard the music and was floored...and needless to say my brother never got his tape back!

People, this is a record that makes a whole category of music at the shop justifiable. Most "New Age" is sappy dreck, however the music TD makes here is better than any label can suggest. When I think of 'space music' or 'Krautrock' that one can thoroughly enjoy - this is it.

There's NOTHING like getting comfortable in the dark and putting this classic on the hi-fi. It's like meditation in orbit - or an O.O.B.E. in your very own living room.

The mystic ancients would be jealous to not live in our time and be able to hear this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful compositions, Nov 6 2003

To hear that this record is badly composed is not a very mature or realistic thing to say. This album was done in 1979, one year after the subpar 'Cyclone'. Force Majeure conjures the energy TD had up to around 75 - 76 which I started to see fade away following 'Ricochet' or 'Rubycon'.

In comparison, this album accomplishes what was very difficult to do in 1977 and 78. Which was make a successful record. Don t get me wrong; the 1976 Sorcerer soundtrack is great, but they fell into some sub par playing in that period. Which is quickly plaed in comparison by the pre 75-76 material (Phaedra, Rubycon, Atem, Alpha centauri and on..)

I first heard this album on a cassette copy (done on a 3 head Sony deck) straight from an excellent copy vinyl. The sound captured is amazing, considering my friend's tape was recorded some 8 years ago.

Of interesting mention too is that I first heard this album starting with the second side (cloudburst flight, and Metamorphic rocks, and then Force majeure). I tend to repeat this medley most of the times I hear this album.

I recommend it to anyone who has read on up to now, and I'm sure has a good eye (or ear) for good ambient/atmospheric music.

The rules for listening to this CD are simple...wait till' it's dark, switch off all the lights, find somewhere comfy to lay down, shut your eyes and listen to this through a 'decent' pair of headphones...and let this album 'travel' you to the stars!
