Time, Love and Tenderness. One of the best Michael Bolton albums!!,
By
This review is from: Time Love And Tenderness (Audio CD)
Michael Bolton scores with this album with three top ten singles from one album in 1991. Love is a wonderful thing is a great song. Time, Love and Tenderness, Steel bars and When a man loves a woman are some of my favorite Michael Bolton songs. Michael Bolton delivers the goods on this album. It's masterpiece!!

This CD has changed my life in ways I never dreamed possible. Through thick and thin MICHAEL B. has stuck by me! He is my savior, my guiding light, an angel, a warm hearted, sexy man, spirited lover, and an exceptional soft rocker. I went to the concert once. I was blown away. The music, the moment, the BOLTON, it was amazing. Pure brilliance, STEEL BARS deserves 9 Million STARS, but nothing cures my heart like TIME, LOVE AND TENDERNESS!!!!! except for LOVE IS A WONDERFUL THING it really does make me smile through the pouring rain! I thank CHRIST for giving the world BOLTON and me a reason to LOVE! AMEN!

Michael's second hit provider,

Michael Bolton achieved and enjoyed so much success from sales of SOUL PROVIDER. Here is his second megahit which spawned five Top 10 hits. They are the title track,LOVE IS A WONDERFUL THING(not on GREATEST HITS 1985-1995),MISSING YOU NOW,which was another joint project for Bolton and Kenny G,a cover of WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN(a hit for Percy Sledge),and STEEL BARS. Released in spring 1991,this album sold 2 million copies thru spring 1992! After this album,Bolton would have no more megahits.

Love Is Wonderful,

For Michael Bolton, 1991 proved to be a very exciting year for him. He had already proven himself with his Soul Provider tour, and now he was going to do it all over again. It is just kind of sad that the critics were giving him the gong, like the judges on The Gong Show. However, that kind of music is actually very good to hear, then Britney Spears and her raunchy appeal anyday.Time, Love & Tenderness, proved to be Michael Bolton's most successful record, selling over 6 million copies. The album has some of the most fierce songs of his career, including Time, Love & Tenderness, Missing You Now, and We're Not Making Love Anymore, a underrated duet with Patti LaBelle. Unfortunately, a lot of stores stopped carrying the record for one simple reason. The song, Love Is A Wonderful Thing, sampled a song written by The Isley Brothers. At the time, sampling was notorious in the industry, with Vanilla Ice, and M.C. Hammer, scoring hits that were sampled by other artists. Unfortunately, The Isley Brothers sued Michael Bolton, and won their case. As a result, Time, Love & Tenderness is no longer being sold anywhere. It is kind of sad that people still don't show that respect to Michael Bolton in the music industry anymore, people would just rather see Britney Spears on the cover of Playboy anyday. However, if you are a true Michael Bolton fan, then this album is a must have for all those tough times. If not, then it'll be a great introduction to his soulful style.

Only one good song,

Michael Bolton has a rather annoying voice (it sounds like's in the bathroom having stomach problems...). Bolton started out as a semi hard rocker (simular to hair metal) but has changed his direction over the years. Now he's the high priest of cheesy love songs. I guess he's the master of expressing (heart) pain through his voice...On this album Michael Bolton does a cover of "When a man loves a woman" and that is the only good thing on this record.

i remember i was 14 when this CD became a hit. back then i hated it. it was too sweety sweety. Only now i thing it's ok. If you take it like it is : a pop album. I particulary enjoy the duo with Patti Labelle. And you people who critize him, you should listen the barbra streisand's version of the song. awful. then you'll know that this guy has talent.

I've always liked most of Michael Bolton's songs, but I didn't have any of his albums yet, so I figured I'd borrow this one from my mom since I always heard it was his best. I was impressed, to say the least. Almost every song on Time, Love & Tenderness was a major hit back in the day. Every single song is a great love song. The only song I hadn't ever heard on the radio before listening to this album from start to finish is "Save Me." Michael Bolton proved that he knows the art of being a great, soulful singer of love songs with this album. From the upbeat "Steel Bars," to the overly catchy "Love is A Wonderful Thing," to the spectacular remake of "When A Man Loves A Woman," the album is great for listening to over and over from start to finish. Many say that Michael Bolton does nothing but scream and copy other artists' songs, but when the remakes are good ones and the 'screaming' sounds good, then what matters? I don't care what anybody says. Time, Love & Tenderness is one of the best overall albums I've ever heard, and I've listened to tons from start to finish. Nine of the ten songs were played a lot on the radio back in the early 90's; what does that tell you? If you like great, soulful rock ballads, get Michael Bolton's Time, Love & Tenderness right now. It's one of the best albums from the early 90's, and one of the best of all time!

A disaster of mammoth proportions.,

It is difficult to remember that Michael Bolton was once one of the top selling male vocalists of the 1990s. He spent much of his career plagarizing the work of superior, more talented soul artists and desecrating their songs with his horrid voice and shoddy production mainly by Walter Afanaseiff. "Love is a Wonderful Thing" wasn't a good song then, and it still reeks now. Bolton's version of "When a Man Loves a Woman" is so wretched, Percy Sledge would probably refuse the royalty check. If you want soul, then get the real thing: Isleys, Hathaway, Wonder, Redding, Burke. Steer clear of this car wreck of an album.

If my memory serves well, this is the only michael's album that ever achived the coveted spot of the US top 200 album back in 1991. I guess the fact that michael put together an incredible string of excellent compositions did the trick in the first place, then add the fact that he got some very special guests as Patti LaBelle and Kenny G on the performing side and Bob Dylan on the writing one, and you'll see why this got so way up high on the charts... Strangely enough my favourite tracks are some that did not make it as singles: WE'RE NOT MAKING LOVE ANYMORE and FOREVER ISN'T LONG ENOUGH, while the Diane Warren-penned title track is just awesome in its own right. It's a fact that Bolton is the kind of performer you either like or hate, but if this reached # 1, it means that something's gotta give...

The great pop factories of this world can make stars of anyone if they so wish, but it sure helps if the artist has talent. Michael Bolton came out of nowhere a few years ago with a best-selling cover version of Otis Redding's "Dock Of The Bay". He has since become somewhat of a Top-40 fixture but not because of any clever promotion. His voice has few peers and is ideally suited to the soulful ballads with which he has been paired. Most of the songs on this album are potential hits and help Bolton find his best form. An exception is the inclusion of the umpteenth version of the standard "When A Man Loves A Woman". It was squeezed in, one presumes, for the benefit of those record buyers who have been living on Mars. The album gets off to an upbeat and infectious start with the single "Love Is A Wonderful Thing" followed by the title track. Most of the rest lives up to the high standards Bolton has set. |
