ALICE COOPER IS OUTSTANDING!,
By
This review is from: Classicks (Audio CD)
I bought this album because I had heard a couple of Alice's songs and thought they were pretty good so I bought a classicks album and said "WOW!" Alice Cooper is amazing in singing with his psycho personality. This album consists of Alice's all-time hits and some of his famous classicks LIVE! This greatest hits collection is the best out of all the other Alice greatest hits CD's. The major hits of the album includes the famous deadly, "Poison." Also one of Alice's most evil hits, "Feed My Frankenstein." The CD also consists of Alice's great ballads such as "Stolen Prayer", "It's ME", and a live version of his classic "Only Women Bleed." The second half consists of six life tracks recorded in Birmingham, AL in 1989. The live tracks are so INTENSE and LOUD that Alice makes you feel like you're actually at the concert. The intense heavy metal track, "Under My Wheels" sounds great on stage. Another great live version is "No More Mr. Nice Guy." The greatest live piece is Alice's all-time greatest hit, "School's Out." The song is 100x better than the orginal studio recording. Last but not least is Alice's remake of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire". Alice did a great job on vocals for this. He sang it in such a trashy tone just like Jimi and it turned out great. If you're interested in buying a CD of Alice Cooper, start with this so you can get a great taste of how he sounds. The album has hits from the 70's - Present. Every time I'm intereted in buying a CD of a new artist, I buy a hits collection to listen to their overall sound. This album definately does more than just that. Alice gets you HOOKED! This is the first Alice CD I bought and now I have over ten in just half a year. There's your're example of how easily any rock fan can get hooked on Alice Cooper. ROCK ON ALICE!

i realize many people dont like this compilation because it features "too many" live tracks. i bought it because this is the cd that first exposed me to alice cooper. so i guess it has sentimental value. the first track, "poison", hooked me. i also like the fact that this cd features many of his great hits from the 80s, not just focussing on the 70s. the live tracks are good they are just...live. and if you dont really like that, you should go with an alternate cooper greatest hits cd.

This was the first album I bought of the Coopmiester, and it never left my CD player for about 3 years! Despite what other reveiwers have said, I still think this is a great album! Sure, Alice has about a million greatest hits or type of hits, albums out there. But this is defnitly no disapointment! Knowing now that this is more the greatest hits from the albums "Trash" "Hey Stoopid" "Last Temptation" and a few classic live songs, I do recomend buying those albums instead of this, as its quite debatable that these where the greatest off those 3 absolutly perfect albums! The live tracks are great! There no disapointment, and if your into live recordings, then these tracks where supurb sounding and great! And of coarse the great cover song of Jime Hendrix "Fire(let me stand next to your)" which I had never even heard before i bought this album, and when i did hear Hendrix version, i still prefered Alices great cover! So, like i said, I'd recomened more you bought those 3 albums, then this one... but this one is not a disapointment! and is still great!!!!

Not all that Classic Alice Cooper,

While I like this CD, I do have two complaints about it. First, it has six live recordings. Second, the "classics" are principally live, with Alice Cooper's 80s hits not being live. Unfortunately, if you purchased the much better "Mascara and Monsters" CD you will also need this one because it includes several songs that were missed in that collection, particularly "Hey Stoopid" and "Feed My Frankenstein." Have you ever noticed how many greatest hits collections always seem to miss at least one bona fide hit, which means you have to buy at least two greatest hits collections to get them all. Such is the case with both "Mascara and Monsters" and "Classicks."I remain a big Alice Cooper fan, but unless you are a fan of live music I would avoid this particular collection. I really did not care for the mixture of live and studio recordings.

A good compilation of AC's eighties stuff,

[ I rate this three and a half stars ]Alice Cooper has a plethora of greatest hits compilations out already, but most of them have a tendency to overemphasize the seventies era of his career. At last, a compilation of his eighties material has finally been released! How does Classicks measure up? Read on and see. PROS: CONS: OVERALL:

Good for those only wanting his better songs,

Not being much of an Alice Cooper fan but really liking a few of his songs I found this album satisfied my needs quite well. The huge song Poison is on here along with other great songs. I would have preferred none of them were live and were still originals but the live performances aren't bad. This is the only Alice Cooper album I own and would recommend it for others who just want a few of his good songs.

If you buy a greatest hits-package, wouldn't you prefer the songs in their original versions, rather than a mixture of studio and live recordings thrown together?I know I would. Go buy "Alice Coooper's Greatest Hits" for the 70s classics, and "A Fistful Of Alice" if you want live recordings. Wait, this is getting too complicated. Just buy the box set, "The Life And Crimes Of Alice Cooper", and have it over with. You know you want to....

This cd it's incredible, contains all the most powerfull tracks of Alice, "Poison", "House of fire", "It's me", "Hey stoopid" and "Lost in America" are the best tracks of the album. Includes a rare live tracks from the Trashes the world tour and a Jimi Hendrix's song called "Fire". Listen this master piece now, it's the best of one classic singer.

Best Alice Cooper comp out there apart from 'Freedom For...',

First Alice CD I ever got and probably the one I listen to the most. Just as 'Prince Of Darkness' was a collection of tracks form his MCA years, 'Classicks' gives you a selection of his Epic years. With epic he recorded some of his best songs. 'Poison' needs no introductory. The comilation is mostly made up of singles. Hard rock softened only by 'It's Me' and 'Stolen Prayer'. 'Lost In America' adds humour to the proceedings but the real motivation for purchase must surely be the live tracks. While the MCA compilation offered only one rather dull live version of 'Billion $ Babies', the live versions on here are the best versions out there. The official live CD's are quite hit and miss. The live cuts here are taken from the Trashes The World home video and truly represents Alice up there on stage in front of thousands. Totally over the top overdrive guitars. 'Schools Out' never sounded better and the guitar solo on 'I'm Eighteen' (running at four and a half minutes!) is amazing. The previously unreleased B Side 'Fire' is a good Jimi Hendrix cover, personally i prefer the other B Side track 'It Rained All Night' or 'I Got A Line On You' (which is also a cover and now available on the box set). Cool nonetheless. The only criticism I'll level at this (as with all greatest hit's type albums) is that it only includes singles really. I would have liked 'Snakebite' or 'Hell Is Living Without You' to appear on here, although I wouldn't have wanted to miss the live tracks which are really great renditions of his older songs. This coupled with the 'Freedom For Frankenstein' CD (which also boasts great live tracks) covers most of his best stuff in the 80's/early 90's. 'Classicks' is essential to the newcomer or devoted fan.

Alice still Rocks!!!,

This is a good CD definitely worth buying if you are new to the world of Alice. However, I am not a big fan of best of/greatest hits album if you are like me and already have all of his studio albums anyway. There is some live tracks on this album which is pretty cool plus a cover of the Jimi Hendrix tune Fire but not much you haven't heard before making this a good album but I'd spend my money buying other Alice first.
