the first time i took a look at this album, i was like, no way. a waste of money. but like all mj songs, you really need to listen to them to be able to judge. and boy was i wrong. blood on the dance floor is like the song billie jean in so many ways, and yet is unique in its message and composition. ya'll should check out the video for it. and superfly sister is one of the most amazing songs i have ever heard. i mean, the style he uses is just so gruff and yet personal. you think he's being random but this his private life he's singing about. ghosts and is it scary are so brutally honest and direct they make you stop and say, "whoa." and yet people say that mj is one of the most secretive people. gimme a break. everything that you need to know about this man and the scandals surrounding him is in those songs.as for the remixes, they're awesome cause the songs themselves are awesome and michael the man is totally awesome. go figure, right? that's why i give this album a 5/5. please people. do yourselves a favor and listen to some REAL music. buy this album. and you're welcome.

Thank God For The Remix!,

"Blood On The Dance Floor" is an example of how an artist can look at his/her original work, say "What was that?!", and rework the music to the point where it is much more enjoyable and meaningful. Michael Jackson helps us forget his angry, paranoid behavior on HIStory on this 13-track piece. The album's main message is: JUST DANCE. One can stop worrying about the meaning of Michael's HIStory songs and simply enjoy the remixes. In addition to the remixes, MJ added 5 new songs, recorded in studios all over the world on the HIStory 1996 Tour. In my opinion, these songs could have definitely replaced some of the failures on HIStory. They are well written, both lyrically and musically. The title track is a dance standard, and carries an updated "Billie Jean" type of plot. "Morphine", though perhaps a bit strange, is easy to follow and enjoy (Oh God, he's got his Demerol!). "Superfly Sister" might remind some of "In The Closet", with its provocative message and ever-infectious drum loop. "Ghosts" and "Is It Scary" kind of fall hand-in-hand. The mood is the same, and at one point, even the lyrics are the same. As far as the remixes go, most of them improve on the original songs, with the exception of "Earth Song" and "2 Bad". My main distaste in the "Earth Song" remix is that the original is so wonderful. It shouldn't have been tampered with. "2 Bad" should just be thrown out the window. Sorry, but the remix is horrible. It sounds like it was thrown together on a computer program. They should have put a "Smile" remix instead. Overall though, this album outshines HIStory, and is definitely worth the purchase.

Great Effort Artistic Masterpiece,

It surely is the best selling remix album in history with more than 8 million copies sold. This may seem low, but every single remix album do not set landmarks and historically sell well. Well this one did! Of course, its the King of Pop.He has sold nearly 300 million albums worldwide making him the biggest selling artist in history. This album is truly amazing. The first five tracks speak for itself. Here is a review for each song: Blood On The Dancefloor: Wow! It blows you away. He is uniquely applying a grudge sound to it. It tells a story you can listen to for the rest of your life. Morphine: The best track on the album. It is quite long but its completely honest about his drug addiction in 93'. This song is unbeleivable. It shows his credibility. He is innocent! Superfly Sister: Brings you back to the 80's, truly amazing. The lyrics shock you as well. R&B/Pop Ghosts: Truly amazing. You can dance to this one. Is It Scary: Sounds similar to Ghosts, very similar. This one is better though, the chorus is more catchy. Each of those songs get a 5 star review. The remixes are unique as well. There are the poor remixes and the great breathtaking remixes. The strong/best remixes: Earth Song Poor: Great album! Buy it now! I did a few minutes ago. A Bloody Good Album,
By A Customer
This review is from: Blood On The Dance Floor Hist (Audio CD)
This is a good album with some good songs on it. The only song that really disapointed me was Money. That song is trash. It is the worst MJ song ever. No melodie, just a lame rap-like song that does not fit with the rest of the album. But other than that, the songs are all pretty good. Like Blood on the Dance Floor, Morphine (Which is an angry song), Ghosts and Is it Scary? (Which have the same beginning in both songs but different the rest of the way through), Super Fly Sister (A good song but it repeats itself through out the song), Scream Louder (This is my favorite song on the album), Stranger in Moscow (One of MJ's all-time best songs), Earth Song (It's a great song but I've never liked the remixes of it), History (Which is Ok) and You are Not Alone (Another great song but not remixed well. Listen to the singles version which is a lot better). So, I give this album three stars because it has some good stuff on it but other stuff that is not as good.

The best selling remix album of all-time !!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Blood On The Dance Floor Hist (Audio CD)
Michael Jackson's 'Blood On The Dancefloor - HIStory In The Mix', IS one of his best. And...as said in the title, this IS the best selling remix album of all-time. People say this is not a 'proper' album and the remixes are SOOOOOOOO bad; what the hell are they all on about ?! It is great. The remixes and 'new' songs on this album *I think* made the album go platinum and it went straight to #1 on the UK charts, yet a weaker #23 on the US. As for the single (Blood on the dancefloor) that also went straight to #1 in the UK, spanning a 9 week period on the Top 75.Anyway, back to the Album. The 5 'new' songs are great. 2 of them being singles. 2 of them being off the soundtrack 'Ghosts'. 1 of them being previously unreleased and to-be-found nowhere else - get a copy now !!! Well, the new songs begin with 'Blood On The Dancefloor', the infectious hit that got this album going. 'Morphine' is the unreleased one and is hard to discribe but a great song, beginning with a kind of 'network' sound. Track 3 is 'Superfly Sister' which has a more R'N'B sound for you to gyrate to. The next to tracks, 'Ghosts' and 'Is It Scary?' are both from his film, 'Ghosts' (About 35 mins long !!) Ghosts being much better (in my opinion) and the scream in the background, at about 2.30 of time, gives me the shivers !!!!!!! Is It Scary? is almost the same song. And the remixes... Begins with 'Scream Louder' which is a remix of hit 'Scream' with the vocal talents of sister, Janet. Next up is 'Money.' The worst Michael Jackson song. I hate the song and the remix. But this dip doesn't last for long. Next is '2 Bad', the refugee camp remix which, replaces the horrid version they did for BOTDF. A good remix. Stranger In Moscow has a very club feel to it with the ad-libs at the beginning of the song. This time around is arguably better than it's original, leaving a more disco/club edit. Earth song is one of the best on here. The love song we all USED to know, is transformed into a 7.55 Disco/Club mix. You are not alone is named the 'Classic Club Mix'. It is not club (...) It is more tropical beach type of thing. At the end when it adds the synth in, THAT is club. Still a good mix. This leaves us with the HIStory mix. Mixed by Tony Moran, it is (in my opinion) the best track on the CD. Overall Grade - 10/10 It still gets a 10 even because of 'Money', the only downside to the album. While Michael is still in court trying to 'Face Life', we are all (us fans) still very much admiring his music.

Awesome dance music!,

Nearly 2 years after the release of HISTORY BOOK I,PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE,BLOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR was released with re-use of 8 original HISTORY tracks. Those tracks would appear on this album in dance mix form. SCREAM is a duet between the King Of Pop and his sister Janet Jackson. I like the sound of HISTORY,STRANGER IN MOSCOW and 2 BAD. THIS TIME AROUND,YOU ARE NOT ALONE,EARTH SONG and MONEY are very cool. The title track tells about a murderess named Susie. MORPHINE really rocks. IS IT SCARY? and GHOSTS are ideal for Halloween. SUPERFLY SISTER is pretty cool also.

As Michael Jackson's 6th solo album, the highly anticipated album sure didn't dissapoint. The album shows evolution and how he has transformed his artistic ability. Each track is unique in its own right. As the biggest selling remix album of all time with 11 million copies sold, the album has much to offer. Remix albums historically don't sell well, but this was marked down as the most successful remix album in history. The album offered 5 new tracks and remixes from his the previous album in 1995, History Past Present and Future, which sold well over 21 million copies. Most of the remixes on this album are great, a few are poor. The five tracks are unbelievable and outstanding. The new tracks show his new genre as he changes within every album. Here is a review for the entire tracklisting: Blood On The Dancefloor: Wow! Great track. The lyrics are haunting and very shocking. I love it! Morphine: The dark side of Michael Jackson as he opens up honestly about his painkiller addiction in 94'. Superfly Sister: Great R&B track. A true highlight of the album. It reminds you of his 1980's work. Ghosts: I love the song. The chorus is very catchy and contains meaningful lyrics: "Who gave you the right to shake my family tree....are you the ghost of jealousy". It is a clear attack on the evil Tom Sneddon who is getting people to extort money from Michael Jackson who is innocent of all allegations! Is It Scary: Similar to Ghosts, but this version is more enjoyable. Remixes are great. The best and most unique remix was the remix for Stranger In Moscow and History. This is worth every penny. The first five tracks are worth the purchase alone. I love this album and you must have it for your collection if you know true music!
