Really good.,
This review is from: Led Zeppelin III (Audio CD)
Very nice album. I like that there is a healthy balance of slow and fast songs. Tangerine is my favourite.

favourite mix of Zep's hard rock, blues and acoustic,
By Adrian (an island off Canada's Pacific coast) - See all my reviews

For a mix of classic hard rock and blues riffs (the first half of this album), balanced with some lovely acoustic rock (the second half), this collection is unique, and my favourite, in Led Zeppelin's catalogue. Great songs and a sound that's only improving with age. I only wish the III CD cover (or mp3s) gave you a fun album cover (like the vinyl did) to spin 'round.

I Think Most Could Say, This Is Zeppelin"s Best Album,
By ZeppelinDude (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews

well i have listened to all the zeppelin albums and this one really stands out.. i mean dont get me wrong the rest of them are masterpieces , but this one really stands out in my opinion ,i think its also because the fact that there is an electric side to this album and then theirs an acoustic side , the acoustic side of this album is very powerful and really draws you into the album you could kind of say its the calmer side of led zeppelin but t the same time there still rockin out just as good as they always do... the A side of this album has great guitar rifts and wraps up the album to make it a masterpiece, if you dont have this zeppelin cd in your collection i highly recomand you go to the record store and buy it!... Enjoy and Respect! (=

Well, maybe I just say meh because this album is ok, but ok is not up to Led Zeppelin standards. The mini package is cool though, almost humuoris.

Amazing,

This is an amazing album. Some of my favorite songs are the "Immigrint Song" with the traditional rock sound, "Gallows Pole" and "Thats the Way" with a more bluesy sound, and "friends" which i dont know how to explain but is one of my favorites. Like the person above said this album did not get the appreciation it should of because people were still caught up with the first two albums which were also good. This album has a little of everthing and i think it has a little something that everyone will enjoy. This is a must buy for any Zepplin fan and even for people that arent in to Zepplin.

great album, one of Zeppelin's best,

I have all of Led Zeppelin's studio recordings and each has been my favorite at some time or another. Even though it is critized by many and often regarded as one of Zeppelin's weaker albums, Led Zeppelin III to me is actually one of there strongest. These negative reviews come mainly because of the bands accoustic leanings at the time, but that is really not a bad thing, since the albums still has it's fair share of rockers, and some of their best rockers ever, like "The Immigrant Song" and "Out On The Tiles". And not to mention, this album contains one of the best and most powerful tracks ever recorded in "Since I've Been Loving You". This is the true gem on this album. Never has Robert Plant sang with such passion as he did on this track. In fact, it is this album in which I feel Plant shines the most. His voice is in peak performance, and really adds depth to the songs, especially the more accoustic ones. Listen to "Tangerine" for example, and I think you will see what I mean. Overall, this album is essential in any music collection, and is a really enjoyable listen. It rocks out on tracks like "Celebration Day", "The Immigrant Song", and "Out on the Tiles". It has accoustic brilliance on tracks like "Gallows Pole", "Tangerine", and "That's the Way". Truly a Zeppelin masterpiece and a must have for any classic rock fan.

Led Zeppelin III,
By Jacko Monteo "wacob" (Petaluma CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Led Zeppelin III (Audio CD)
On their first two albums, Led Zeppelin unleashed a relentless barrage of heavy blues and rockabilly riffs, but Led Zeppelin III provided the band with the necessary room to grow musically. While there are still a handful of metallic rockers, III is built on a folky, acoustic foundation which gives the music extra depth. And even the rockers aren't as straightforward as before: The galloping "Immigrant Song" is powered by Plant's banshee wail, "Celebration Day" turns blues-rock inside out with a warped slide guitar riff, and "Out on the Tiles" lumbers along with a tricky, multi-part riff. Nevertheless, the heart of the album lies on the second side, when the band delve deeply into English folk. "Gallows Pole" updates a traditional tune with a menacing flair, and "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" is an infectious acoustic romp, while "That's the Way" and "Tangerine" are shimmering songs with graceful country flourishes. The band haven't left the blues behind, but the twisted bottleneck blues of "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper" actually outstrips the epic "Since I've Been Loving You," which is the only time Zeppelin sound a bit set in their ways.

My First Time,
By
This review is from: Led Zeppelin III (Audio CD)
Yes it was 1970 and this was the first Led Zeppelin album I had owned. There will be arguments about which was the best but for this listener the first time was the best time. God, it had everything! Hammering riffs (Immigrant Song, Out on the Tiles) folky haze (That's the Way, Tangerine) and blues madness (Since I've been loving You, Hats off to Roy Harper). Was there ever a better and more varied album of great songs? I never heard it if there was. "Abbey Road" was magic but this was .... out there. It still is. Buy it and love it like I did in 1970. It still excites and moves me. Thank you guys. Rock 'n Roll spoken here...
