What can I say, greatest hits,

Greatest hits albums are the devil. Especially for band, like this one who don't really rely on singles. Fleetwood Mac is a band that can sell 3 million albums without a hit single. In the process, songs that weren't originally singles become their most popular songs (i.e. Landslide, Gold Dust Woman, The chain). With that fact and greatest hits album becomes inappropriate for this band. This album left me unfulfilled, yes it has two new tracks (which by the way are pretty good). But what they left out just left to much to desire. An example of what is appropriate for this band is, The Chain box set, which was realeased four years later in 1992 (someone please tell me why the only one you can get is the two cd version anymore, its really a shame). This album just seems like an attempt to fill the void after Lindsey Buckingham's departure the previous year. One big plus for the album is that it includes the full version of Sara, which is not available on the Tusk cd (who's decision it was to edit it should be fired). My advice is don't by this particular album until you have their previous albums. And even then, only if you're a die hard Mac fan.

This has been replaced by the 2-CD "Very Best of Fleetwood Mac", which only costs a little more, but has many more tracks, including some extremely popular songs like "Landslide" and "Second Hand News" that are strangely missing on this "Greatest Hits". Also the new collection features much better sound quality.

A REMARKABLE BAND,

One thing that facsinates me about Fleetwood Mac,is how lead singers are alternated.Songs such as Rhiannon,Dreams and Gypsy are sung by Stevie Nicks.Ohters like Over My Head,You Make Loving Fun and Everywhere are sung by Christine McVie(who sounds a lot like Joni Mitchell in her song Over My Head).Songs like Don't Stop,Go Your Own Way and Big Love are sung by Lindsey Buckingham. In other words, some songs are sung by female vocalists, others by male vocalists.Sometimes you wouldn't know that it was the same group singing. My favourite band member would be Stevie Nicks. The fact that this group's history goes back to the late 60s with Peter Green is relatively new to me.Fleetwood Mac is one unique and remarkable band.

What a shame that it's been 16 years and Fleetwood Mac has not Remastered this great but could be better album. Do us fans proud and make this album remastered/reissued with 20 songs. Please use 4 off the following as add on's : "Landslide,Golddust woman,Silver springs, the chain, love instore or seven wonders". You can't go wrong with these major hit's as a bonus for the CD. Fleetwood Mac really needs a first class SINGLE HITS CD-----in todays new world.I know I would buy it---So Listen up !!!

Fleetwood' Greatest Greatest Hits!,

Fleetwood Mac could had been bigger than the Beatles. But they didn't unfortunately. The songs on this cd are excellent. There wasn't one I didn't like, despite that I'm only 21 (b. 1983) and wasn't there when they were everywhere. Still played on classic rock stations and on MUZAK, Fleetwood's music never sounds old or irritating. A good production for when you are driving at night or just want to relax after school or work. Worth every dime, "Greatest Hits" won't dissapoint you.

In case you haven't heard yet, "Fleetwood Mac" is one of the most popular and best selling groups in rock history, and this 16 track "Greatest Hits" is a good reason why. Included here are the big hits "Don't Stop", "Sara", "Go Your Own Way", and "You Make Loving Fun". Plus fan favorites like "Everywhere", "Gypsy", "Dreams", and "Over My head". The only song I don't care for is "Tusk", and I would easily replace that with "Gold Dust Woman" or "Seven Wonders". There's also the newer 2-disc "Very Best Of", if you want more than what's here. Any fan of "Fleetwood Mac" might also want to check out "Timespace: The Best Of Stevie Nicks". It's a little more 80's, but just as good.

I love compilations. Love them. You get to have most of an artist's best songs for you to enjoy. If you don't know much about said artist, it's your chance to get to know them. If you're already a fan, it's great to have tracks you love in one single CD. But, as I've said before, they don't come without problems. The matter of chosing which songs should be included is always a touchy subject, because everyone has different likes and dislikes, and most of the time record labels and/or the artists *miss* or *forget* songs that fans claim for. Fleetwood Mac: Greatest Hits is not an exception to this rule. In fact, in my opinion, there are at least two tracks missing from this collection: Landslide and The Chain, which are, and I think you will agree, a couple of the band's most famous songs, and by not being included here, lessen the impact of the CD a little bit. Having said that, this is a great collection indeed, with some amazing work and some really great, classic tunes, like Rhiannon, Don't stop, As long as you follow, Go your own way and Dreams. This is classic Fleetwood Mac, mostly from the Lindsey Buckingham-Stevie Nicks era. But if you really want to have a better collection of the Mac's work, you should skip this CD and get the two CD The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac which includes 36 tracks. I would have given 5 stars to this CD if the newer collection didn't exist, but as it is, I should say that it's better than this one if only because it includes the two tracks named before, and some of the stuff that came after the release of the first collection.

Before their box set and recent "Very Best Of...", this was the best hits collection from Fleetwood Mac. You can't argue what's here because everything is pertinent if you are a casual fan. However, if you are a fan, you may be disappointed that a certain song was not included. I felt "Silver Springs" should have been included along with "Think About Me" and "Love In Store". There was room for those tracks. But I do give it 5 stars because almost everybody will like this collection. The liner notes are entertaining (it is about the band getting ready to perform). The notes are right: these people were MEANT to be in the band. I'm happy for their recent album success because we need more band like Fleetwood Mac.

The title says it all!,

This collection features 14 previously released tracks from FLEETWOOD MAC,RUMOURS,TUSK,MIRAGE and TANGO IN THE NIGHT,respectively. There are no pre-1975 songs on this album so that means no songs from the Bob Welch era, also before American members Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac. The two original tracks are Christine McVie's and Eddy Quintela's AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW,which was a Top 10 hit, and Nicks' NO QUESTIONS ASKED. This album can afford to be out of print since all tracks except BIG LOVE from the still-in-production TANGO IN THE NIGHT album are on the subsequent compilation THE VERY BEST OF FLEETWOOD MAC. Total playing time for this album is 65 minutes.
