Another TIGHT follow up album,

Big Daddy Kane was still RAW when this album dropped in 1989. It really was a "big daddy" thang, as he still could bring the lyrics and was rapidly becoming a sex symbol, up there with LL Cool J. This album is STILL tight, and was Kane still in his true form. Here's the review:Album Highlights: It's A Big Daddy Thang, Another Victory, Mortal Combat, Smooth Operator, I Get The Job Done, Wrath of Kane, Lean On Me(Remix), Warm It Up, Kane, and Calling Mr. Welfare. Production: Thumbs in the middle, leaning towards up. Lyrics and Subject Matter: Thumbs up. Originality: Thumbs up. The Last Word: They should've included the ORIGINAL version of Lean On Me, but the remix is good, but not better. Overall, while NOT the groundbreaking effort like Long Live The Kane, this album is still Kane is his true form. I recommend this album.

Kane You Dig It?,

Ahh, this one brings back fond memories; it wasn't necessary for every rapper to be Public Enemy back in the day, and BDK wasn't even close. What he did prove, however, is that Bobby Brown only wished he could have produced albums (and written rhymes) this fly. From "Long Live The Kane" to "It's A Big Daddy Thing", these were like the twin towers of rap excellence, generally underrated, and still pretty cool to listen to, in parts. He gets the knock for homophobia on "Pimpin' Ain't Easy", but everybody I play this song for now still loves it. Fifteen years later, it still spins just fine.

The Awesome Big Daddy Kane,

This album is a classic. What a treat! Seventeen blazing tracks from the Big Daddy Kane back in 1989. Each track is a hit in its own right. Could this be the greatest rap album of all time? It just might be. This Brooklynite unloads rhymes like fire all over this album. Feel the energy of the crowd on the live performance of 'Wrath Of Kane'. It just does not get any smoother than 'Smooth Operator'. Anthems like 'Young, Gifted and Black' shows and proves that Kane is class all the way. 'Another Victory' shows Kane's versatility on the microphone. 'Pimpin Ain't Easy' is a jam with a hook you'll be singin' over and over. This album captures the spirit of hip hop in the late 80s. A superb display of lyrical mastery.

Unbelievable flows! Untouchable style. Kane at his best: this album is untouchable. His classic style from his first single in 1986, GET INTO IT, to Long Live the Kane, up to It's A Big Daddy Thing, has never been matched. Hopefully his album now in the works (on Landspeed record label) will be a return to this smooth yet on point style, currently missing from hip hop culture. On an added note, I recently heard the single THE MAN: THE ICON, which lives up to these expectations! (I hope this single, as well as the single produced by Premiere, comes out on the upcoming album.)

...Classix rap trax. Still sounds good today. Big Daddy Kane, although seemingly retired, still performs great shows. I caught a bit of him in Cincy...

I don't know of too many rappers from the old school (nobody today can match BDK, that's for sure)that could match BDK for sheer humour, creativity or even delivery, but I happen to think this to be the best album he's ever put out. So many years later, most of the tunes still hold up. No tune matches "Raw" for classiness, but it's still well worth picking up.
