5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Album
I bought this album in around 1998, and just picked up the new Byrne Cd and liked it and then threw Feelings in. This is a great record and if you liked the talking heads you will probably like this, or if you like music that is a little bit different this is sure to be something that will be liked. 3.0 out of 5 stars Catchy tunes, ugly look
I agree with the reviewer who said they spent too much energy on the cover and notes, and not enough on the music. It's a nice enough CD, maybe not his best work, but I enjoyed it. But I'm taking off two stars just because the cover is just too damn cute for words, and it annoys me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cold Feelings, April 23 2004

Despite a share of good songs (the haunting "Dance on Vaseline", the dramatic "Burnt by the Sun" or the offbeat "Wicked Little Doll"), this David Byrne effort is not very convincing or appealing. While there`s nothing really bad here, most of the moments are nothing special either. "Feelings" is listenable from beginning to end, yet only a couple of tracks rise above average and become memorable. Yes, Byrne combines very different styles as usual, mixing pop, world music, electronica, bossa nova, funk and other influences, but not even that melting pot can save an album that just happens to carry too much filler. Overall, this ends up being a curious yet unecessary record. Not the worse, but there are better choices out there.

Forgettable.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of his best! And HDCD to boot!, Aug 9 2002
By A Customer

This is an excellent CD, musically and sonically (it's an HDCD disc)! The songs are well textured and executed 'ear-candy', with a typical Byrne approach of multi-layers of instruments and eclectic song variations/styles. Lately, this and The Church 'After Everything Now This' find their way to my CD player constantly!

Stands in a class by itself...I dont really have the words to help you relate to his style. He's pop, I think...wait, no he's a sarcastic ex New Waver...ah heck with it, anyone who loved the Talking Heads knows what I mean. I don't feel worthy to describe it, its too subtle. The record is mostly sedate,musically... with the occasional outburst of hard rock. But all of his textures are enjoyable. Themes:Human fallibility, the absurdity of love. Reason to buy the darned thing: "Miss America", probably not a hit for the sole reason that the f-word is in it. Crazy as America is, he still loves her. I agree, David, hopefully we all do.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor, July 8 2001
This review is from: Feelings (Audio CD)
I agree fully with "A music fan" above ... this and David's self titled album are really poor in comparison to the rest of his solo work. I love most of Talking Heads music but don't rate Remain in Light highly like most fans do.

This is more of the same from David Byrne, yet another in a string of fabulous solo albums. The tracks all have a great feel, and the colaborations are perfect. The mix could seem unusual at first, but this is usual for Byrne and makes for an excellent album and not just a collection of good songs. A must have for any music fan, especially those who have a soft spot for David Byrne already.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Dark Side, Jan 8 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Feelings (Audio CD)
Suddenly, David Byrne uses his powers for Evil instead of Good. Sad, sad, sad. Avoid this one and listen to any other Byrne album (except the self-titled one) and you'll hear an artist when he had something to say and was good saying it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Byrne is back, Nov 27 2000

I'd trailed off in following David Byrne - the albums just didn't have the spark they used to - until I was given 'Feelings' as a gift. It's a wonderfully eccentric album with a number of remarkable songs. There are elements woven in from a wide span of prior musical interests: songs reminicent of old 'Heads albums, Latin influences, strains of Eno, and more. I've been playing it frequently, and recommend it for those who have enjoyed him in the past.

5.0 out of 5 stars So worn out I had to get a new one, Mar 31 2000

I have 100's of CD's and this is the only CD I carry in my briefcase at all times. "Dance on Vaseline" is my favourite track and is so pleasureable (that voice, hypnotic/sexual!). For a relatively recent work this has a great variation in styles tying the David Byrne of old and the Brazilian new together with amazing synergy. This CD is so exceptional that I have worn it out and had to get a new one. The music is gorgeous and thoughtful and the lyrics are powerful. Once again David Byrne proves himself to be my favourite artist, an artist who has enchanted me since 1983 when I was first introduced to the music of Talking Heads. If you believe you are an intelligent listener, take a punt, you won't be disappointed.
