...life after 20th Century Fox Records recordings!
on January 10, 2001
While I thought at the time of each single release off this CD that perhaps they weren't as wonderful as earlier recordings from one of my all-time favorite artists (exception: "You're Puttin' A Rush On Me"...I've always loved that song), time has corrected my judgement and now I listen to this CD quite often. Revisiting songs such as "Something In The Way (You Make Me Feel) & "I Have Learned To Respect The Power Of Love" will give you, the listener, a sumptuous feeling. Some tunes such as "Stand Back" will make you nostalgic for the early to mid 80's while gems like "Never Do You Wrong" (an underappreciated track from the underapprecitated "Something Real" album) will help you revisit R&B and hip-hop of the late 80's into the early 90's. "Bit by Bit" the theme from Fletch, is good, uptempo fun. This is a strong, varied body of work from a fantastic vocalist.
