In my opinion, this is the best Dave Matthew Band Album. It has some of their best songs and most inspired playing. Many of the songs have become concert staples. Catchy hits such as So Much To Say, Too Much, Tripping Billies and the moster hit Crash are interspersed with musical gems like Two Step, #41, Lie In Our Graves, and a personal favorite, Say Goodbye. This is one of my desert island discs. The double shot of #41 and Say Goodbye is my favorite moment on any DMB album. It never ceases to affect me. Not a bad song on the whole disc.

i understand where all the one-star reviews are coming from; opinions that hate dave matthews band for putting out mindless drivel on lame subject matter. but i have to disagree. to me, crash is about feeling good, about relaxing to moving sound. not really about complexity in lyricism or songs that are necessarily 'about' something. i have no idea what #41 is about, but its one of the prettiest songs i've ever heard. and that song alone is worth the bucks, or at least a couple more stars

This has to be one of the worst purchases I have ever made!! The whole CD is basically a total waste of plastic. The song "crash into me" is too stupid for words, and the the "proudest monkey", would make a great song to get a criminal confess to anything if he was locked up in a small room and had to listen to this trash for a couple of hours. After listening to this dribble I'll stick to my Nate King Cole, Tony Bennett, who can actually sing and not have to sing about "monkeys"!!!!!!!!!

I don't have every DMB album I should. Crash is, in fact, my first. Don't get me wrong! I love The Dave Matthews Band, but I just could never get around to buying one of their albums. That said, I decided to get this one because of three songs I'd heard from it: Two Step, Crash Into Me, and Too Much, which are the three best, in my opinion. The Dave Matthews Band are probably the only band like themselves in today's world of glitz, glamour, and synthetic pop. Perhaps it's because they're true originals, or perhaps they're the best of an underground movement we haven't heard of yet, but whatever the case, I consider this their masterpiece. I won't give a song-by-song rundown like so many others do in their reviews, but suffice it to say that every song is wonderfully written, has flawless musicianship, and Dave Matthews is just the right guy to lead this band. It wouldn't fit with anyone else. I will highlight the songs I mentioned earlier. Two Step: An energetic, subtly powerful song, and hands down, the loudest that DMB has ever been. Crash Into Me: It's such a romantic song, even though I think it's about a kid's wet dream. It's so tender and real. It reminds me of the first girl I loved. Too Much: The big hit single with those famous lyrics: "I Eat Too Much, I Drink Too Much, I Want Too Much, Too Much!" It has a cool, big band feel to it, especially during the chorus. If you never buy another Dave Matthews Band album, buy this one. It's their Sgt. Pepper's - they can only go down from here!

Trash Unlimited,

A friend (was) of mine, kept ranting and raving about how good this CD was. So I took their advise ( last time) and bought this CD. What total garbage and a what a waste of my money! The title song "crash" is lame, I wish my CD player would of "crashed" so I wouldn't have to listen to the rest of this scheisse!!! As to the "proudest monkey" ( should be entitled "Spanking the Monkey!) song, I think you could get a bunch of monkeys to sound better than this peice of you know what! Why are some of the worst songs the longest?!! As you can tell I am NO fan of Mr Matthews, but I did give it a try though. I would not recommend this trash to anyone unless I want to make an enemy out of someone. The only good thing about the CD? I made an excellent target for my K98 K Mauser!!!!!!!!!

There was a time when songwriting giants walked the earth. I can count on one hand how many have inherited the true craft. This guy is not one of them, contrary to the belief held by his musically-challenged following. This type of lazy, uninspired "songwriting" will no doubt prove to be the end of Western civilization as it will fail to elevate the minds of men.

Everyone always says that they are the biggest fan of their favorite band. I can honestly say that I might be one of the biggest DMB fanatics ever. This DMB album leaves no exceptions and, quite possibly, is my favorite.I own every single DMB album - single, live, studio - in existence today, and I must say, none of them impacted me the way "Crash" did. It may also be because several of the songs on this album are very sentimental to me. The only DMB album that could be capable of even grazing Crash as the best would be Under the Table and Dreaming. While most people enjoy Before These Crowded Streets more than any of them, I think UTTAD has a rawness to it - it showed more of Dave to us, the listener. Out of all of DMB's albums, I believe that Crash is the largest crowd pleaser. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. While most of the time crowd pleasers are somewhat looked down upon - not hated - by true hardcore fanatics, this is a big exception. Come to think of it, isn't EVERY DMB album? All of the DMB haters out there call fans like me pseudo-intellectual, Starbucks drinking, college attending freaks. One, I'm not in college yet. And two, we just have different tastes, so get over it. Dave's voice does not sound like a dying cat, either. Atleast he's original and doesn't sound like everyone else. That's like saying Bob Dylan is a wannabe. All right, enough about my personal feelings of DMB. Here's a list of the songs: So Much to Say - A good song to laugh about. But watch the music video to get the full impact of the lyrics. It's a journey through Dave's mind. Two Step - A good song to sit and listen to. It's very complex in the way that the instruments fit together, and is a musical showcase for every member of the band. Crash Into Me - A very special, personal song in my heart. The song isn't exactly about love as most people think it is. It's more about the erotic fantasies of a boy.. In this case, Dave. It's still very beautiful and VERY sexy. The best line would have to be either "Hike up your skirt a little more, and show the world to me", or "I'm the king of the castle, you're the dirty rascal." My favorite song of all time (besides Jimi Thing). Too Much - Haha! Very entertaining! I love this song because of the video mainly. I kind of interpretted it in the way I wished, so now I think it's very funny. #41 - I can't really explain why, but this song made me cry the first time I heard it. It's very impacting, and it sounds as though Dave is suffering in this song. And I don't mean his voice - the music, his lyrics, everything. Very emotional. Just read the lyrics, you'll understand. It's another song that stays dear to me for personal reasons. Say Goodbye - It's another sexy song by Dave. I know it sounds bad, especially me being female, but I think it's beautiful this kind of reality exists. There's something beautiful in the scenario I guess, the fact that two friends can leave their true lives behind and spend one night of passion together. It's a wonderful thing. Drive In Drive Out - Great song. Very fast, very pounding, very good. I love this song when I'm driving. Let You Down - A good, romantic song. The best line is "Let me climb up you to the top so I can see the view, from up there ~ Tangled in your hair." Lie In Our Graves - A very, VERY good song! I just wish they would've kept Leroi's solo in. I play several instruments, but saxaphone was my first, so I'm partial to Leroi's playing. This song is special to me, and I hope other people will realize the depth to this song. Not just the lyrics, but the music too. Cry Freedom - This is a very sad song. I think this is a song many people can interpret as their own because of the emotion it evokes. This is another song that I hope people can realize the depth and meaning to. Tripping Billies - Great song. It's very emotional, especially if you know the meaning of the song. Boyd's mini-solo has to be one of the most awesome musical displays I've ever heard. I feel so much happier and fufilled when I hear this song. Proudest Monkey - Good song. Enough said. (Hahaha!) Well, that's it. That's my long, boring review. Thanks for reading, and I hope I was helpful. Live on forever, DMB!

This, of course might not be DMB's most audacious material, but it is the one I enjoy the most. The band stands right in the middle of the jazzy musical proposal they offer, and commercial $implicity (lately in demand) . You can either listen to great tunes and sweet melodies or admire the arrangements and the versatility of their jams. Great lyrics too. I'd say this should be DMB's signature style.

Matching the musical genius achieved in Under the Table and Dreaming is no small task, but Crash, while not quite as good as Under the Table, is a great album. Almost every song is noteworthy, especially "Crash into Me" and "Proudest Monkey." THe lone bad song on the album is "Let You Down" which is just not catchy at all. Maybe if I needed to calm down on my deathbed it would be ok but otherwise it is just too slow and boring to fit in with this upbeat wondrous CD.
